If you've checked your credit file, had a bank account, etc etc etc then your credit file will already be updated with your current address.
So it matters not one jot.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I've been discharged since December 2010 and would like to check what is on my credit reports now - I haven't done it since.
What puts me off though is I remember doing it through Experian almost ten years ago as I was refused credit for no apparent reason (when I checked there was an almighty !!!!-up in their records which I managed to correct with them). The reason I did it was because they advertised a free report - what I didn't realise (I don't know if they deceived me or if I missed something in the small print) was that they'd continue to charge my debit card £6 per month for about three years and it was an absolute nightmare to get it stopped.
When I've looked online at Equifax it says "free" but then asks for payment details... am I likely to get stung again? Is there any other way to do this?0 -
Get the £2 statutory reports.
http://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/statutory-report.html
http://www.equifax.co.uk/Products/credit/statutory-report.html
You can order those online, but if you are ultra wary then there are also options there to print out a form to send via post with a cheque or postal order as payment.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Well I tried Noddle and they apparently can't verify me, so I tried that Equifax link but they say I have to call them to verify - but I don't know if they've charged me or not.
Gggrrr I hate these companies!!!0 -
Or use https://www.noddle.co.uk - free credit report for life..
EDIT - Seems like you already tried that! And yes Equifax have probably already charged you. My friend had this a year back and they charged his card and then he had to ring up the following morning to confirm his identity.0 -
Oh my word, well, Noddle apparently can't verify my details (no idea why and they won't discuss it) I tried Equifax, they got all my details, went through verification, everything seemed fine until the screen flashed up telling me to call them... which I did... apparently they can't provide the report but again I can't get any details.
So I'm getting a bit concerned here!0 -
I entered into an IVA in July 2006, thankfully that is now finished and i've begun checking my credit reports. Equifax and Experian, all nice and clean.
However, HSBC have kindly added 3 completely fresh defaults to callcredit (Default Date 28/11/2006) on the 30th June of this year, unbelievably this is the first HSBC have even reported these accounts to callcredit. All 3 accounts were in the IVA, as my original documents prove.
I've sent a letter to HSBC requesting that they remove the defaults as the date should show as the 20th July 2006, ultimately meaning they should no longer show at all due to 6 years passing.
Had nothing back from them at all, no confirmation, nothing. I guess the next step is contacting the ICO. Very annoying, it's almost as though they've done it purely out of spite.0 -
Reminder letter.FINAL REMINDER.
NOTICE - LETTER BEFORE ACTION – BREACH OF THE DATA PROTECTION ACT BY CREDITOR.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I refer to my letter dated xx/xx/20xx and received at the registered address of your Data Controller on xx/xx20xx. Proof of your receipt of this is attached.
In my letter I required you to correct the information on my Credit Reference Files in accordance with the Data Protection Act and the guidance issued by the Information Commissioner.
I was declared bankrupt on xx/xx/20xx and subsequently discharged on xx/xx/20xx, and an account held with CREDITOR at the time was covered by this bankruptcy.
Namely:
Details of account(s)
For your convenience I also included with my initial letter:
List of documents you included.
I required that you:
- Mark these accounts in some way to indicate that these accounts are settled or satisfied.
- Amend the default entry to be no later than <Date if your bankruptcy>, in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
You had 28 days to correct this information.
You have so far failed to comply with this request and your obligations under the Data Protection Act.
Therefore I wish to remind you of your obligations and give you a final chance to correct the information.
You have 28 days from receipt of this letter to do so.
Should you fail to make the corrections required, further formal action will be taken, and a complaint registered with the Information Commissioner and Financial Ombudsman Service.
I would appreciate your due diligence in this matter.
Yours faithfullyFree/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I would make a final complaint to HSBC first.
If you take it to the ICO/FOS now, then due to their backlogs it's unlikely they will even get to consider the complaint before the defaults drop off on their own in November this year.
Complain via post as above.
Also send copies via email to all complaint email addresses for HSBC you can find.
