Hi all
Believe it or not in January 2015 it will be 6 years since my BR! Time flies
anyway, a lot has happened in the last 5.5 years, I have remarried my children have also flown the nest. Next year we want to downsize.. This means applying for a mortgage
although we will have a fair wack of equity to go towards the new house I don't want to get lumbered with a high % mortgage. Now, I checked my credit files to find Santander have marked my credit as default every month since the BR
I have contacted them and they said they will sort this out for me. Co-op bank appear on my report as good as does the studio cat (I always pay off as soon as bill comes) my credit report is poor, the BR is obviously still on there until January, what I want to know is how can I build up my file to give me a better chance of getting a mortgage? No other defaults on my report. I thought about a credit card (just to build it back up - I am very careful with money these days!) but I did the eligibility checker on here and it said no way!
Anyone got any ideas of what I can do? Thanks in advance.0 -
Trying to update credit files after being discharged from a trust deed, i notice the template letters all say you should state the account numbers when writing to each creditor. I can't find the account numbers anywhere, will this delay in discussions or decisions the creditors take when i write to them or will my name and address be enough?0

Hello
The order date of my BR was the 01/10/2012, and I was discharged on the 12/04/2013
My experian records show DEFAULT then SATISFIED for all but three creditors, two are Lloyds, one was a current account the other a credit card, the other EE
The Lloyds current account Status shows DEFAULT, as is showing an outstanding money amount in Balance rather than settled as in all the others.
The default date for this account is the 03/12/12
This is also the same the lloyds credit card shows status as Defualt, but has a money value in the Balance rather than settled.
The default date for this account is 20/11/12
The EE acount is also showing the same, default, but money outstanding in the Balance.
The default date for the 10/04/13
Can someone please advise what I need to do to rectify this?
What should the default dates be?
And when should these drop off my credit report?
Help and advice always appreciated :heart2:0 -
Can anyone help? Should I have posted this in a different section?
Thanks0 -
Default dates must be no later than the date of your bankruptcy order. They fall off 6 years from the default date, which is why it is important it is correct.

Could do. You need to give them enough information so they can identify you and the account. That is not neccessrily an account number, but that makes it easiest.
Maybe the people who did your TD have a record of them?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thank your response, and the link.
Just to clarify, I need to write to the company's which still have a money showing in the current balance and get them to amend the current balance to satisfied?0 -
Hello All,
Unfortunately I was made Bankrupt last year, and was discharged this May I’ve just checked my credit file for the first time since and I have 9 defaults listed 7 of which show as settled, they obviously got the letter from the O/R but 2 still show a balance outstanding and saying I’ve ‘gone away’ despite this Experian says I have a fair credit rating with 750 points !! (they clearly haven’t read the file !)
What I don’t understand is there is no mention anywhere of my Bankruptcy (all 9 debts were listed in the Bankruptcy) and the 7 marked as settled don’t say they got nothing and my Bankruptcy is the only reason they no longer say I owe the money.for all anyone knows after 6 months of nonpayment and a default being issued I had a change of heart and paid them in full!!
I know I can write to the 2 that still show as owed and get them to change the listing from ‘Gone away’ and to show the amounts as now settled/satisfied but should the Bankruptcy be listed on my credit file ?
What I’m concerned about is if it should be listed and I write to these 2 lenders they might make sure it is, just 2 months after my discharge I applied for and was accepted for a new Barclaycard, I was amazed I got it especially as they were one of the original defaults now showing as settled.
So should my Bankruptcy be on my credit file ?
If it should should I just leave my file alone incase contacting these 2 creditors suddenly makes it show up ?
I'd really appreciate any advice
