So I see this thread has finally reached the 'slag off the OP' stage. That's fine..I have asked a question..and the response is that some of you will do anything to get a sale (and subsequent neg), whilst others believe the buyer's conduct is against eBay rules and he should be reported. Those who can't quite decide what this thread is about have decided to attack the OP....

DGJsaver - rearranging your words would be nonsense.

Once the buyer had got the item, only then do I leave feedback.

To th OP, tell them to get stuffed. Under eBays T&C's they are also not allowed to badger you for feedback.
Please do not feed the Trolls!

Sorry Floxxie, but I don't see anyone attacking you.

If you make a habit of doing this, you're going to lose your account (or at least have it suspended). Asking someone to leave you feedback is not feedback extortion.

You're only hurting yourself, which is what I believe DGJsaver was alluding to.

Really Marty J? Perhaps you would like to get in contact with eBay then because for once they agree with me. It's not so much as asking for feedback but the manner in which it is done that is important (and of course I didn't post the last two messages so perhaps the buyer's approach didn't come across clearly?)

Yes I am still open to the neg as a NPS but do I care - the non-buyers feedback is 0 and my account has great feedback (whilst I wait for the neg!). If you read my comments this is the only problem I have come across and hence the reason for asking the question.

What I have done now is ask eBay if they are going to suspend my account as I shall not be sending out the item and I would like to add some more listings....may as well prepare myself.

Can't see that anything has happened to the buyer - perhaps they just agreed with me knowing that it doesn't make any difference to the outcome?

Well I don't see how you could know that eBay agrees with you. I have reported someone for feedback extortion before, and eBay said:

"We'll investigate your report as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours. If necessary we'll take appropriate action against this member (e.g. a warning or suspension) to ensure eBay remains a safe and reputable place to buy and sell. However, as it's important that eBay maintains member privacy, we can't share details of the action we take."

Clearly you're on more intimate terms with eBay than I am.

And as for the buyer's approach, it might not have came across in your posts, but the manner in which they conduct themselves is very much a matter of interpretation.

    Here we are Marty J...

As a fellow eBayer, I know how this matter concerns you and I'm sorry to
hear you can't continue with this sale.

The best thing to do is to phone the buyer and explain what's happened.
It's likely you'll be able to work out a solution together. Here's how
to request their email address and phone number: ...

Although this situation is beyond your control, please bear in mind that
when you list an item, you are committing to sell it to the buyer.
Remember that the buyer can still submit feedback, even if you send them
a full refund. In addition, they could report you as a non-selling
seller. It's important to handle the situation sensitively with this in
    mind.

xxxx, I trust this information helps you to resolve this situation
amicably with your buyer. I wish you success buying and selling on eBay
    in the future.

Sorry, that's the response from eBay (with the boring how to bits cut out)

I also received the 'investigate in 24 hours letter...' and just asked further questions concerning my account.

Thanks for that. It reads to me as if eBay want you to resolve the situation with your buyer. They're also telling you that if you sell something to someone, you're making a commitment to do so, and they can leave you negative feedback and report you as non-performing seller if you don't follow through with that commitment.

It certainly doesn't sound as though they're taking your side.
