Feedback Demand - is this the norm now?

i would just leave feedback saying 'paid'0

You do not have to go through with the sale if their paypal address is not confirmed. Its very odd quoting ebay recommendations when they are a new user, most new users don't have a clue and need molly codling through the sale. I think you are wise to be suspicious as they may be building up a new account. Perhaps they have been suspended on their main one.0

There is amutual option to refuse payment for this reason but it still leaves the seller open to a NPS and a neg.You do not have to go through with the sale if their paypal address is not confirmed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I agree about the possible neg but surly you cant be penalised as a non performing seller for keeping to the rules. Chances are ebay would remove any neg left as they seem to nearly always do this nowadays if you are a good seller and you complain.0

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/feedback-extortion.htmlFeedback extortion
Buyers are not allowed to threaten sellers with negative Feedback, neutral Feedback or low Detailed Seller Ratings in order to obtain goods or services not included in the original listing.
Sounds like the buyer is wanting to obtain feedback to me
Leaving feedback is optional, (but encouraged).

I completely agree with you..I am more upset with the way it has been worded. Would you honestly be happy to deal with somebody who sent you messages like this?
Floxxie
why, their money is just as good. Imagine if your local supermarket refused to serve you because they didn't like your tone!
they've kept their side of the contract and paid so you must now send the goods. If you still feel strongy about the email, ignore it, block all other emails and don't leave feedback.0 -
I'm much more of a buyer than seller and we need decent feedback ratings too.
I always pay immediately and send a short pleasant message. It annoys me when buyers sit on it until you leave feedback and then don't bother to leave any for the buyer frankly.
Sellers who leave feedback as soon as they've been paid are showing they are utterly confident in their own service set up and the type I far prefer to deal with.Living on Earth can be expensive, but it does include an annual free trip around the Sun.0 -
Feedback should be based on the total transaction experience.
As a seller, I leave feedback once I am convinced the buyer has received their item and is totally happy with it (or once we have resolved any issues). I am normally only aware of this once the buyer leaves me feedback.
As a buyer, I would leave feedback as soon as I have received the item and am satisfied with it (or a period of time has elapsed for the seller to address any issues arising)."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I agree Premier. As a seller I don't consider the transaction completed when a person has paid - I leave feedback when the buyer is happy with goods.
And Sssssss your argument doesn't stand up - people can be removed and barred for attitude problems in local supermarkets as in other shops.
pickledtink - sellers who leave feedback immediately usually are business sellers on an automated system. I always feel that they are hoping you won't leave a neg for them if things go wrong. I don't feel any more confident dealing with these sellers than I do with those who leave feedback afterwards. I'm not fixated on somebody's feedback volume; as a seller or buyer if somebody doesn't leave feedback then that's fine - I don't chase them up.
The difference with sellers is that it isn't just a positive or negative. The ratings for postage. description etc. can affect a seller enormously and there has been a lot of discussion on this board about it.
I have reported the email contents to eBay and will leave it to them to decide what to do with the seller. I shall not be forced into leaving feedback based on a buyers demands. I leave feedback for every transaction that receives feedback; that's how I do it and shall continue to do so.
If I send out the goods to this person then I am setting myself up for problems. I would rather trust my gut feel and get an unjustified neg. I can then focus on the 99% of buyers who are A*.

Well I have had further emails from the buyer and yes he has another account 'with over a 1000' on it. He has also told me that I am not a genuine seller so I am getting a neg! He has resent the payment and got his latest address confirmed.
I have had a response from eBay which I think was a standard reply of 'thanks for bringing this to our attention', however it also says that they will look into it and then act accordingly but won't tell me what they have done. Has anybody been through this process? Will I get a message from eBay at all?
