I currently have some sellers that are demanding feedback! I have chosen not to leave any as the goods were not up to my expectations, but for the value I paid for them, its not worth a neg. Still annoying though from any point of view. Feedback is voluntary (I thought!)

On the new, improved eBay (post-mid 2008) sellers are expected to leave positive feedback after payment is received, but before the transaction has successfully concluded. Buyers might therefore leave non-negative feedback and higher than the lowest DSRs if sellers are lucky. Or they might say the item arrived damaged or didn't arrive, and ask for a refund before a proper investigation can be concluded, to prove their case (or the seller's).

Welcome to the new and improved eBay where buyers are King & Queen!

This is my first buyer that has demanded feedback on payment. I have trusted my gut instinct and having looked a bit more closely at the buyer and his other aliases, have now reported him to eBay for more than my initial concern.

Every buyer, except this one, has been great so I can't moan but yes the balance has swayed so much in favour of the buyer that the dodgy ones will be making a reappearance...

Yep I don't know what the fascination for feedback is. When I get feedback, I think ok they have received the goods. If I don't receive any feedback, that's fine although I will consciously check my emails just in case there is a problem.

As a seller you are rocking the boat by asking for feedback these days. I also thought feedback was voluntary but it appears I am meant to give a glowing appraisal of how an idiot has managed to make a payment or else I am a bad seller!

...Sellers do still have the option of leaving follow up comments such as: "Buyer did chargeback after receiving item", "Buyer blackmailed me into refund", "DANGER - scammer - don't send goods!!!", "Contact Herts. Police crime no. AAJ087230155", etc. as a warning to others...

I know you cannot leave negative feedback
as a seller, but can you still do ` respond to feedback `
not talking about leaving feedback but the

respond to feedback where you can comment
underneath and it appears in the buyers feedback ?

Isnt it ironic that up until EBay changed the feedback rules, seller`s who said they leave feedback after the whole transaction has been completed just happened to leave that feedback AFTER they had received theirs..and now the rules have changed they are falling over themselves trying to keep the buyer sweet just in case they get a bit of their own medicine back

and i say that as a seller and a buyer

You can leave a so called "false positive" which is when you start the feedback with the word Negative (or neutral) and explain you reasons further.

Negative: didn't pay and no contact for 6 weeks after auction

Ebay feedback sites such as the one at toolhaus is set up to include "false positives"

It just gets removed quickly though as soon as buyer reports it.There is even a special reporting sub section for false positives.

I still wouldn't leave a positive, regardless of what it said for any rogue buyer.

    No Marty J,

Read the thread and you will find out what the issue is. Your comment is not exactly helpful is it?

    Floxxie

I did read the thread, and it does appear that you aren't going to sell to someone because they asked you for feedback.

What you don't seem to realise is that by your own actions, you're the loser in this. They will simply go to another seller and buy what they want from someone else instead. You will have an unsold item that you have to relist, plus a non-performing seller strike and a negative.

Shooting yourself in the foot is rarely an intelligent course of action.

    Thanks Marty,

I haven't lost this. I just won't give in to ridiculous demands. And good luck to them.....I'm not interested in what they are doing. You really don't need to concern yourself with what a silly person I am....I'm not going to lose any sleep over a neg and a NPS. I do have a life..
