I am going to be in a situation to save by April 2009, so I will be picking your brains for all the best places to save. you have your hands full with your challenges today, you go girl and don't let anyone stop you.
Jo x
Pick away!
Here's how the challenges have gone:
1. NO CHOCOLATE - failed
2. Check online banking - succeeded
3. Walk for at least an hour and a half - an hour done so far - might try for 2 hours since The Chocolate Incident
4. Do not go anywhere near shops - succeeded
5. No Spend Day (apart from buying a couple of apples with change I had lying around - does that count as NSD???) - failed (had to buy tampons in Tesco so essential spend!! But def not a NSD)
6. Seek to switch underperforming ISA - 5.3%!!! I only have £3300 ish of my ISA savings in it but it still annoys me that the rate is so low. I know there are ISAs that allow transfers in but you lose 90 days' interest. Sounds awful!!!! - checked it out but interest penalties are putting me off - will do some more researchGet to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Hi everyone
I have read this whole thread with great interest and would love to join in as well. I am currently paying off my debts and should be debt free by February next year, BUTmy weakness is Chocolate and crisps and I do tend to waste a hell of a lot of money on these. I have been trying to follow a healthy eating plan since October last year and have lost nearly 1 and 1/2 stone would still like to lose at least another stone. I am at the stage now where I need to get my backside back into gear or I will put back on the weight I have worked so hard to lose and more if I'm not careful.
I get paid on Monday and my challenge to myself is to try and only have 1 bar of chocolate per week. I will also be trying to see if I can actually end up with any money saved at the end of the month.
Good luck to everyone in their quest to stop over eating and over spending
XOnly 2 Months to go until I'm Debt free!£2 savers club ~ have lost count!!Loose change challenge ~ £129 banked 20/10/08 don't know what is in the jar!Proud to be dealing with my Debt0 -
Hi i'm a late comer whose in the same situation, i budget like mad and then waste money on stupid food especially food/ puddings. I'm as desparate to lose weight as i am to get out of debt, i seem to be slowly whittling away at the debt but just can't stay away from food. I tried to challenge myself to no chocolate days but that almost seems to make things worse, i just don't know what to do.0

Good iea to alow yourself one bar of choc a week - gives you something to look forward to instead of complete denial (hmm - maybe that's where I'm going wrong). I wish you luck, and might follow the same idea myself. Welcome. Join the club, I could have written that myself!!!
It is hard, isn't it. I haven't cut down on chocolate at all since starting this challenge, but I have upped my exercise and hope that the cutting-down will follow. Or you could try Never Ever Again's idea of allowing yourself x amount of chocolate a week?Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs
