I've been out all day, not long back in the house. It is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry quiet on here just now right enough, I think a few people are on holiday and not sure about the others, maybe Jo is working?
I will check in tomorrow and see what's happening.

Long day at work today, followed by shopping in Lidl/Asda.
Food not too bad today, so am feeling a bit more in control again. Money-wise, not too bad either. Got paid from second job so paid off monthly credit card bill :T, and managed to put some into savings account for a rainy day (so when several of them hit us at the same time, like they tend to...:o we will have a bit of a buffer!
).
It is quiet on here - hope everybody is OK. If you are not on holiday, just post and say hello...you don't have to mention money or food - just say that you are OK!!
Lynne - any news on the job?
Emmylou - your mum sounds like a real character. I always remember visiting the parents of one of Mr P's friends just after we got married. They couldn't come to the wedding so we took the photos to show them, and Mr P's friend's mum (who is actually a lovely lady - just not the most tactful!) said, "oh, I'm glad you managed to lose a bit of weight for the day, and having a big skirt was such a clever idea, because I've always thought of you as being a bit chunky, but you've managed to hide it in these photos...". Chunky?!?!I weighed 9½ stone and my wedding dress was a size 10 which had to be taken in... (I haven't seen her for several years now - probably just as well...I have no doubt she'd have a field day with my current "chunky" status!!! :rotfl:).
Good night all - speak to you tomorrow...

Hey guys I am around just starting to wind down before I follow in BF's footsteps and head over to Egypt.
Although I'm very annoyed... I had my credit card bill down to 1200 ish and had to whack on £400 last night for various things (car tax, travel insurance and online food shopping for when I get back from holiday) because ive lost my switch card. So NEED to get to the bank today to pay over the £400 from my main aco!!!! otherwise I'll spend it.
K xx:heart2: Its 12 o'clock and I need your attention :heart2:Debt at Aug 2008 : Bank of Scotland CC : £1605 :mad:Overdraft : GONE!:j:staradmin Debt free aim: Sometime in 2009:staradmin0 -
Hey KMac
Have a great time in Egypt- how long are you there for?
Sorry to hear about the credit card, but at least they were all essentials, so its not like you said "I had to put £400 on my credit card because I saw these really lovely shoes..."!! Then, we really would have had to have stern words with you...;) And you have the money in the bank, so its not all bad - just a pain to have to get there and swap the money around between accounts!
My day has got off to a fantastic start food-wise...not!It seems to have become something of a "tradition" on a Thursday morning to have a Starbucks run (there are only 2 of us here on a Thursday morning, but my colleague keeps bringing things in, and I was feeling very guilty, so had made her promise this week that she would let me go - and pay, because she will never accept any money). The difficulty is that she arrives at least ½hr after me (and sometimes 1½hrs), so tends to bring things in with her, whereas I can't do that or we will just have cold stuff by the time she arrives! Anyway, I had got out my Weightwatchers Eating Out Guide and worked out the best things to have
, skipped breakfast in the knowledge that I would be eating soon anyway
, and...
My colleague just turned up bearing a large Hot Chocolate with Whipped Cream and a Croissant!!!She "forgot" that it was my turn to go this week... So I feel doubly bad because yet again she won't accept any money from me, and also I have just eaten the equivalent of over half my day's food allowance in 5 minutes - so will have to really be careful for the rest of the day, because its weigh in day tomorrow!
Oh well, what do they say about the best laid plans...?!

I went back to the gym last night after a few months break. Had been going regularly before my holiday but not really since, which probably coincides with my real slip back into depression. Anyhoo, as luck has it, they have a challenge on at the moment with a reward of a t-shirt at the end of t for those who are exercising regularly enough on the score chart. Being a bit competitve when I really get going, I made a helluva start last night and I'm determined to get my t-shirt in ultra quick time!
I made a huge mistake about a year ago when in an effort to save money, I gave up my main luxury of gym membership to save £50 a month. Saved the money, but put on 2 stone, got seriously depressed, had a few panic attacks..........................now realise that the gym is a good health policy for me. When I'm exercising I feel great, when I stop, I don't as I get miserable, fat and lonely. Soooooooo, from a money-saving point of gym, gym membership costs me about £600 a year which is not good, but the benefits on my health are immeasurable.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
awwww piglet lol - have you tried telling her that you are trying to eat healthier? (no need to mention weight loss) perhaps say you have been sleeping badly or something and thought a better diet/exercise would help or something. HOWEVER that starbucks does sound yummy lol, i still think frappuccinos all the way though
kmac - how exciting for another holidayDont feel bad about the CC usage as you ARE going to pay it off today with the money you would have paid your bills with had you been able to find the right card. No problem there at all if you ask me
lynne - am sure jo said she was on nights for 4 days again so will be another day or 2 before she is back i guessand BF is on holiday lol and with kmac going soon too its going to be going all Bjork in here (you know... "its oooh so quiet shhhh shhh" lol made me laugh anyways haha)
WTBAS - aww its nice to have quite a few people from home on hereI might not want to move back anytime soon lol, but its still always home (espesh as its my only constant in life with the amount I move house!)
bathgate - £50 sounds like a lot for the gym. Have you tried "shopping around"? lots will be able to offer you free trials etc to see if any others are suitable.
trying to motivate myself to go on a big walk like yesterday. Not sure why i cant be bothered saying as i KNOW i felt good after my walk yesterday. Felt really proud of myself and veeeery sweaty (which i see as a good thing lol shows i worked hard lol). Finished off my ben and jerrys last night so thats it gone for the week, other than that had a good food day
oh slight rant warning here - WHY when i have done a meal plan for me and DD and order exactly what i need from tesco.com can i not make what i want?? oh ill tell you why! My OH keeps eating things i have ordered for me (he tells me what he wants and i order it for him so he has no excuse! he can order what he likes!!) and so yesterday couldnt have tortillia wraps as he ate all my cheese!!! that cheese was supposed to do tortillas, topping for spag bol, and a pizza this week! and he also ate my nice dolmio jar i bought to make a pasta dish!!! WHY WHY WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT! drives me bloody nuts!!! *rant over*0 -
Emmylou, I've tried everything - I told her I was trying to lose weight, I've been down the "I'm trying to give up Starbucks and eat more healthily" route, but she just laughs and says that I shouldn't worry about it because I look fine (I'm not quite sure what she is seeing?!?!
) and its only once a week. She is from the Philippines and her English is not 100% so I do wonder whether something is being lost in translation?! But she is such a lovely person, I would hate to upset her, so I think I am just going to have to try and build it into my week and cut back at other times or exercise more to compensate.
By the way, I have no say in what I get - she surprises me each week - so I can't even ask for the "better" choices... I just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope! :rotfl:
Re: OH, I'm afraid I have no suggestions other than to perhaps "hide" a few bits and pieces which don't need to be in the fridge (but then again, who would think of needing to hide a jar of dolmio?!). Mr P is the same - he regularly munches through stuff that I have planned for use later in the week, and also is rather partial to the healthier "treats" that I keep in the cupboard which are WW friendly. His main fault there is taking the last thing out of the box/packet and leaving the packaging in the cupboard so that it looks like there's still something there, and I only find out there isn't when I go to get one!!
Men - you gotta love 'em but they do drive us crazy!!!!!
