I've not tried skype Olive, we usually just text and he fones once a week. It's a bit better this time as I can have regular contact with DH, he was away to Afghanistan last year for 7 months and did not know when he would fone, sometimes it was about 3 weeks before I heard from him. I must see if I can get hooked up to this, the bills are horrendus for the fone:eek:. I'm glad we have found each other, now we will have some company at night!! (that doesn't sound right, LOL).:rotfl:

I was RUBBISH last night, we went to the pub quiz and instead of drinking sugary and fatty J2O's i drand orange juice and lemonade, whihc was fine, unitl i decided i NEEDED peanuts (and sat and scoffed a bag, and knicked half of my mates bag of Big eat chicked crisps)
And then we got home and i ate 3 pieces of toast with too much butter and marmite.
Im back on it today thou - no snacks and just my lunch and fruit for me today until i go home for tea
Puzzled x0 -
Hi Puzzled,
He is away to Kenya, meant to be for 6 months, but he foned late last nite and it might be getting extended to 1 year:eek: but he'll get 3 weeks off round about Christmas time. He said he was calling from a safari lodge and was getting kept in the lap of luxury, (all right for some). I might get a holiday out of it, but I don't fancy going there, I'm not into safari stuff.
I'm doing better on the eating front today, 2 slices of toast for breakfast, HM soup and 2 slices of bread for lunch and I've had a cup of coffee with no biscuits or chocolate, so far so good. I've not spent any money today either, so that is a bonus. I'll give the bananas a try will maybe get some tonight or tomorrow.
Done 3 of my job applications will get the rest done this afternoon. Shop has been okay this morning, only 5 months till Christmas!!!
Hope you are all having a good day,
SL
(I've just looked at my name, I'm not a newbie anymore!!!:j0 -
Can I join too? I tried starting my own thread on the savings board but it's not going too well...
I'm trying to lose a stone and a half and also save more and stop wasting little bits of money on rubbish. Actually I will just go and copy my post, just a sec...Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

tara747's savings and weight loss challenge!!
OK, this is going to give me a kick up the backside with my savings and weight loss! I know that a lot of potential FTBs are saving for a house and there are already a couple of threads on this topic, but I need the motivation of a public confessional to keep me on the straight and narrow!!
I have the following aims:
1. To save as much as possible for an eventual house deposit
2. To stop wasting money on pretty sparkly things in Accessorize (I only buy sale items so convince myself that it's ok!!) - which will obviously help with #1
3. To lose a stone and a half by Christmas
Short term challenges for the next ten days
I am going to challenge myself to:
1. put another £100 in my websaver, I can do it!
2. have two more No Spend Days in July (have managed only two so far)
3. eat no more chocolate for the rest of the month (argh!!)
Savings so far: £14,600
Current a/c balances: £1200
Current weight: about 9st 9lbs (I am only 5'3" so this is bad and my body fat is about 30% - v. bad)
I need support! Anyone want to join?

You might want to look at the 'How much can you save?' sticky at the top. Lots of people there setting themselves the challenge to save.

Good luck though!
I am a saver but this is my attempt to save more by not wasting small bits of money on silly things. I already do all the MS stuff like bringing my own lunch to work, walking/cycling everywhere, seeking out bargains, buying reduced stuff for the freezer, shopping around and getting cashback for everything possible, only buying clothes etc in the sales - it's just that I could be doing a bit better and paring my spending down a bit!
I have quite a large disposable income so should be able to save more - am currently saving about £600-700 per month.[EMAIL="abuse@moneysavingexpert.com?subject=Reporting post http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=12693325"]

Here is an interesting article, I could have written tip #21 myself!
http://www.savingadvice.com/blog/200...ney-habit.html
21. Hang out in the stores for fun. Going to stores when you don’t need anything is a bad habit that can cost you big money. Rare is the person who can just wander the mall without buying something. These little “somethings” add up and cut into your net worth. Better to only shop when you need something and find something else to do for fun. A corollary to this one is to rely on commercially prepared entertainment like movies, theater productions, arcades, premium cable packages, and theme parks for your fun. A little of this is fine, but when it becomes a habit to go to the movies or a theme park for fun, it gets expensive. Find cheaper ways to entertain yourself.Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Evening everyone! :hello:
Well today I managed to walk home again, which was good :T , and the only spends today were in Boots (Piriton tablets and a new toothbrush - both essentials) and Sainsbury's - some milk (also essential), but when I bought the milk I succumbed to a bottle of wine - not essential...but I suppose it could have been worse! At least I managed not to buy the reduced custard slices, the reduced choc chip cookies and the 3 for 2 chocolate bars...:rotfl:
Puzzledbubbles - look on the bright side...it could have been toast and butter and cheese - marmite is much better!!
Jo - hope you're OK and last night's shift went well...
Tara - welcome to the thread.
