Milly's Bridal

Hello ladies,

I'm new to this site and am in desperate need of money saving tips for my wedding in February. I know lots of people have had experience of buying dresses from China and I was wondering if anybody has a recent good or bad story to tell about Milly's Bridal?

I have totally fallen in love with an Allure Bridal dress (dress no. 8513), and it costs £750 here in the UK. I found a company I could buy it from in the States for $700, but Milly's quote was just $300 to make it from scratch. That's a huge saving - and means it would only be 20% of the original UK price. When money is as tight as it is for me, it seems too tempting a bargain to let slide, but I am apprehensive for obvious reasons. Mainly the sizing, and the fabric they use (it pretty much all appears to be polyester).

Please let me know your stories :)

Many thanks in advance, I really appreciate it.

Hi I don't have any experience of Milly's but just wanted to say I looked your dress up and it's gorgeous!

I know we're all trying to save money on here, but would you really want to get married in a polyester dress? I think some things are worth paying that extra for :o

Um i didnt buy mine from Milly's only due to language barrier, but my dress most def is not made out of polyester! I'd say it is the same material as all the dress's i tried on here in the bridal shops, maybe just a bit lighter, which to me was better. Alot of people have used Milly and are very happy, i used ASAPbay, if you want to see my dress, look for my thread - I'm now a Ms!!! With photo's x x

Hi all, thanks for the posts

embooze2006 - I'm just wondering how you've found the whole Milly's experience? I've been doing a bit of digging around it seems a lot of wedding dresses are made out of polyester which has put my mind to rest.

What sort of dress are you having made and at what stage of the process are you??

Wow, your dress is gorgeous – really stunning!

Thanks for the info, it’s only natural to be a bit apprehensive about doing something like this, but after hearing what you and other people have said I think I just need to go for it J

Keep me posted won’t you xx
  • Show Tunes Girl also used Milly for an evening dress for her reception. She pops into the forum from time to time, and she was very happy with her dress. A quick search will bring up her posts.

Hiya - I just wanted to say that I had a bridesmaids dress from Millys and it came out fabulous - Nicer, I think, than the original alfred angelo (mostly because it fitted which at 6ft isn't always easy!) the boning and finishing was really high quality and the fabric was slik and chiffon just like the original - and, most impressively, they made it all up from a few photos.

The customer service was pretty good and you can ask them to send you swatches of the material they use (def for bridesmaids so I'm sure it would be the same for wedding dresses) if you feel at all apprehensive about that bit of it all. Shipping took a while, but I think that's the same with most!
