Software 4 Students is the one you want. https://www.software4students.co.uk.

A lot cheaper than the site you have linked to. Software 4 Students is definitely approved by Microsoft as its linked to from their site.
  • Hi there, i received an email yesterday from the Topman website, telling me that there is now a 15% student discount available.

"15% offer available instore with valid student card and online by entering valid NUS number at the checkout between 6th Sep-16th Oct 2008"

so that may be worth taking advantage of!
  • If you want to be able to use the latest Microsoft Office for free, I have a solution which has worked for me for a long while now. This could be considered slightly unethical I will admit, but as a student I find it very hard to justify paying for such software.

Microsoft offers a 60 day trial of all it's office packages or standalone programs such as Word. All they require to for you to use this is an email address.

The trick is this, if you go to www.hotmail.com and create a new email account.

Then go to http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/products/default.aspx, where you should see a box labelled "
Try out the new 2007 Microsoft Office system today!"
. Choose which product you are wanting to use, eg. Office Standard 2007, and download it, using the email address you have just created in the email field.

You can then download the installer and the keycode will be displayed on screen as well as emailed to your address. I also like to change my postal address each time I do this just to be on the safe side. You can then install the software and use fully for 60 days.

Once this 60 days has expired, you can go to the website and download the software again, providing you use a different email address.

The only use for the email address is using it to receive the keycode and to be able to enter it onto the website. You can forget about it once the software has been installed.

I have done this on at least 4 different occasions on more than one computer and have had no problems.

I've ordered from them (Office for Mac 2008) and it's all legit and as you've said, they're Microsoft approved. Although for some bizarre reason they sent me 3 of the same disk with 3 serials.
