Is the washing powder any good?

Kids and the wife say the pizzas are great from the chiller counter. I detest any food with cheese but I love the price, so much cheaper than other supermarkets.

Back to Lidl's yesterday for cat food - won't be buying that again. Also, no loose tea :( but ...

... everythings else has been fab - even the cornflakes! Even got equivalent of the Asda boxes of Walker's crisps (£2.52 for 36) because they had bags of 18 for £1.26. Hi Juice squash is MUCH cheaper than Asda or Tesco - reckon Asda will still be first choice for:

    tea
    cat food
    flour (smart price)

Next week, will need cleaning and washing stuff - normally buy cheapest out of Ariel or Persil because my kids wear white polo shirts and supermarket products aren't as good on whites (well, last time I tried).

Any fave laundry/cleaning products from Lidl? ???

Just a little word of caution, I wouldn't recommend Lidl's washing powder if you or anyone in your family have sensitive skin. I tried their powder when my daughter was a baby, she had a virus at the time. She woke up one morning with a blood rash all over her and to cut a long story short, ended up in hospital being tested and treated for meningitis. It eventually turned out she had a virus and an allergic reaction to the washing powder, I went straight back to Persil!

However we still swear by their cheese, yoghurts, orange juice, and their seashell chocolates make brilliant Xmas pressies for teachers at £1.49 per box :)

Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

  • Hi Magentasue
I am actually a fan of the Lidl cat food...well not me personally, my three kitties are - I am referring to the 31p tin which comes in either chicken, salmon or beef. They also do those foil tray things which my cats love too, but can't remember how much they are. They do another tinned cat food - can't remember how much it was but it needed a tin opener to get into it, and my cats thought it was horrible - is that the one you mean?

The cat litter is fab - £1.89 for a great big bag of clumping stuff, even better value than Tesco's value range - unfortunately no Asda here in N.Ireland - used to live in England and I do miss lots of what there is over there.

I've recently become unemployed and am a sudden convert to Lidl. On my first visit I saw this really posh woman dripping with diamonds and gold bracelets etc - then spotted her in the car park getting into her brand new two seater sporty Mercedes. I am more than happy to rub shoulders with the likes of her!

I think you'll find that these are available from Thurs 25/11.

Thanks !! I didn't see the different start date on the back page - I will try tomorrow

It just shows how opinions vary. I buy all three of those items at Lidl and have no complaints. The cat food with gravy is welcomed by the cats but not the Lidl dry variety. I like their deluxe tea - which is cheaper than most shops' economy stuff. And Lidl plain and bread flour, at least, is indistinguishable from leading brand flour in my opinion. What don't you like about it?

I use Lidl washing powder all the time and it performs at least as well as Persil at a fraction of the cost. I suggest the active ingredients are the same and your unfortunate experience was very rare or bad luck. Lidl are a huge company - larger than Tesco I hear - and they would surely change the washing powder supplier / mix if they had much feedback of allergic reactions.
  • I seriously love lidl now that ive discovered it. I can personally highly recommend their nappies. they are about £5.25 for 50 and they are as good as pampers. i have always used pampers on my son as i would rather pay a bit more and not have leaks, wet clothes etc and he is now 2 and ive just discovered their nappies.
They are truly as good as pampers!!!
