Why not buy one of those charity "£1-sized-token-on-a -key-ring" things from your local Asda or Morrisons (not sure if other supermarkets do them). Cost is around £1 - £1.50 (some of which goes to charity) and it gives you a trolley 'token' (sorry, best way I can describe it) which ataches to your key ring.
Saves having to remember a pound coin or queue for change.0 -
I went in today to look for the Salt Crystal Lamps advertised in their newspaper at £5.99 for this w/c 22 Nov, but they didn't have any in. Is that normal for them ? to advertise something they don't have in stock?
I think you'll find that these are available from Thurs 25/11.0 -
Some really good bargains available : I also buy the dark chocolate, the loo paper, yoghurts, fruit and veg, strong bread flour, powdered milk for breadmaker etc..
Both my sons now wear cheap watches from Lidl as well.something missing0 -
The bratvurst type frozen sausges are lovely too, very meaty. The packs of mixed dried fruit, apples and the like are great value.Snootchie Bootchies!0

Lidl's stuff is great, cheap and good quality.
The odd thing misses the mark (i.e. frozen Chicken Sweet & Sour ready meal) but most are great (i.e. frozen Chicken Tikka Masala ready meal). Cheap smoked salmon, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, parmesan etc as already mentioned.
The non-food specials are on a 'When It's Gone It's Gone' basis as the quantities they've managed to get are small and have to be thinly spread across all stores.
I was dubious of the shoes, but apparently they're one of (if not the) biggest shoe retailer in Germany.
The Fruit & Veg appears much fresher than most supermarkets IMO.
I like the 1kg lasagne in the fridge section but BEST OF ALL are the breakfast packs - tasty and fantastic value.0 -
another chocolatey thing to try is their ginger bread, its covered in either dark or milk chocolate, and tastes like Jamaican ginger cake(nice and fluffy) we've got through three boxes in a week! its only 99p and about 15 pieces in there, really tastey ;D0

Some of the weekly specials are unobtainable. The last special which was too good to miss was rechargeable batteries which worked out at about 99p each. They had all gone by twenty past nine ! People our way start queueing up at 8 o'clock in the morning, it's hard to differentiate between a supermarket and a Post Office.0

Penny didn't work in the trolley but twenty pence did, but I worried all the time I was shopping that someone would get my twenty out and they had put in a pound or I would get a pound and I'd only put in twenty. As it happens I went to the last row of trolleys and my twenty was still tthere.Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

we go to lidl for several thins, their lasagne is absolutly fanstastic. £2 for a ready made one. just take the wrapper off and bung it in the over for 20 mins. one bite and you will be adicted. Kids like the chicken meatbals in tomato sauce too (very nice on toast too, but but dont let the kids know I eat them). If you can't say something nice - SHUT UP0
