I'm a regular shopper at Lidl's. The staff are always friendly and helpful too. Love it when their fruit & veg are half price!
BTW did you know the trollys take a 20p if you don't have a pound ? ;)
They will take a 1p coin also0 -
Wow, you learn something new every day! The times I've had to slip in the exit against the flow and wait for a till operator to give me change. They've never said to me that I could use a 20p or a 1p ::)So many shoes, so little time....0

A friend was always against Lidl until I took her to my local one - one look at the olive oil & balsamic vinegar, tasted against a background of ciabatta & a travel show on Sky & she was hooked ;D !
I've signed up for the e-mail advising of bargains in advance. I use Lidl to stock up on the basics especially soft drinks, veg, meats & household cleaning stuff & then use Sainsbury's free delivery to get the rest especially the heavy items. I find it best to go there ready for the store to open during the week & then wander through - Sundays are a definite no-no. I've seen some foods with brand names I'd never heard of which have been gorgeous & far cheaper than the equivalent from bigger supermarkets. Their low prices make it worth getting one of something just to see what it's like ;)0 -
Have your kids blind test lidl premium cola. you can't tell the difference from coke and only 35p!
Also the aloe vera pump soap is a favourite.
Poor performance on cien deodorant noticed.
Anyone from lidl management please note: the canned chilli con carni took a real slide when you changed the recipe to milder with more veg.
Premium bottled lager is expensive at £4.59 for 4x500ml but is better than any I have yet tried.
I digress but netto baked beans are best and netto lge eggs are much cheaper than lidl.stay lucky!

I've become a bit of a Lidl Evangelical - boring the pants off my family and friends about how good they are. It's surprised me how snobby people can be about which supermarket they shop in.
I would say that my monthly shop has gone from around £300 in my Sainsbury's/Safeway days to around £120 now.
My latest bargain? - picked up 2 and a half kilos (that's about 5lb in old weights, I think) of bananas on the way home last night - £1:05.0 -
Lidl nappies are excellent, never had any "leakage" and so much cheaper than Pampers.
They do a lovely hand wash in a red plastic bottle that smells lovely and doesn't leave my hands all dry.
You can sometimes get good bargains in the bread section, I've spotted Hovis Wholemeal in there at nearly half the price Sainsburys charge.
Some of the tinned stuff is good value such as tinned kidney beans (excellent in a chilli!)
Their own brand Weetabix is good, my children like it.0 -
Yoghurts and sweet things in LIDL have no competition.
some wines are also quite good0 -
OK, I did it - went into Lidl's with a list of everybody's recommendations and then went to Asda to pick up Advent calenders and noted prices for comparison.
Parmesan - half Asda's price, cheddar, 30p cheaper for a large block
Milk - I buy 12 4pt cartons a week, saving of 10p each
Butter - forgot to check but I buy Asda's cheapest and someone said Lidl's beats that
Cereal - found a Shreddies lookalike, about the same price per 100g with Asda's multibuy. Kids will have to put this one through quality control
Pasta about the same as Asda's big bags
So, I reckon I could save a couple of quid a week on just milk and cheese alone, much more when fruit and veg are half price. Will do my Monday shop there (milk, butter, cheese and basics) and keep trying things to compare.
Also bought some stollen and chocolate for personal research0 -
