The Playstation 3 Bargain Hunt

I have been looking for a good Playstation 3 deal and thought it may be beneficial if we have an open thread where we can share the best deals found with other PS3 bargain hunters.
With the arrival of the new 80Gb PS3 Console due for arrival in the UK at the end of August 2008 I am assuming that there may be some good deals coming round the corner as retailers try and sell off any 40Gb stock they may have (as the 80Gb RRP = existing 40Gb RRP).
=======================================================
The following link shows release date and price of the new 80Gb model (proving this is not just a rumour):
http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/6079726/Sony-PlayStation-3-PS3-Console-with-80GB-HDD/Product.html
Due for release on 27/08/2008
£299.99 Free Delivery
=======================================================
Perhaps all replies detailing a good deal could use the same template so it is easy to compare and find the deal that best suits your bundle requirements and or purse?

Good luck hunting and fingers crossed some good deals present themselves as we get closer to the 80Gb release date!

Where did you get this from?
Thanks

I also got a similar deal to this with my phone contract which is on Orange, this was back in December last year and my price plan was a little higher (£45 a month) also an 18 month contract this was with the Carphone Warehouse I sold my PS3 for £300 back in January and my brother sold his for £200 in May
I went in a few weeks ago and they are still doing this offer as are most online retailers but on much lower price plans.
One thing to be aware of is that the Playstation comes with your contract and so if for some reason you end your contract or they end your contract you will have to give back the Playstation (obviously once your contract is over you can keep this) but just be aware - make sure you read the terms and conditions as I was not told about this when i got my contract out!
Hope this helps!0 -

Wow this is handy and came at just the right time. Also looking to buy a PS3
Is it ok to ask questions in this thread aswell?
Its just i was wondering, like with computers, usually you want the latest model right? Well im taking that with consoles this isnt as important, so if i snapped up a 40Gb one, i wouldnt be wasting my money by not buying the latest one?
Or will the new one be a bit more sturdy where the software is concerned?
I hope that makes sense:rolleyes:0 -
ALL HARDWARE is the same on the PS3 - you get firmwire upgrades via the web so dont worry about buying an old model. You can update it on your first power up. Only difference is some of the high end olllllllllllld models (lucky if you can find one now) such as the 80gig have more USB slots (4) compared to the current production models (2 usb slots)
I wouldn't buy a PS3 at the moment tho, 40gig version is around 300 quid - sony announced earlier this week that price will drop considerably and a new model, 80gig (not to be confused with the old 80gig model) is going to be released with the current 40gig price tag - this is all happening in september.
But yer - buy a ps3 and upgrade the hardrive yourself to say a 250 gig drive. Only for the tech savvy tho I guess0
