"The computer shop" deal looks good at £10-ish. for HP56 Cheaper to driver to town than buy on-line. Have to pop in town later. Thanks for the tip
I agree don't buy a computer from them.... works fine but the aftercare sucks!NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
sometimes worth checking whether you can get a better deal at https://www.theconsortium.co.uk
it is the site used by schools etc - HP 56 around £130 -
I got some VERY cheap 23 and 45 compatible cartridges for my Deskjet 710C from seller kctcom on eBid: 2 black and 2 colour cartridges for a total of just £22.
They arrived OK but I haven't actually tried them out yet. I think they're still offering them, and other types (various brands but predominantly HP compatibles) - take a look.
The seller says they deal in bankrupt stock, which is why they're extremely cheap but only have a limited selection.
I've tried refilling in the past but never been successful, so I get someone else to do it now.
Also just took a couple of empty cartridges to Cartridge World and they gave me a credit note: £4 for each one.0 -
As a brand new "newbie" as of tonight, I checked this out and think I can add something to it. I have used refilled HP 15 black cartridges (for HP840c) for the past two years, at about £11 each, and found them to be great, cheap and not only that, filled to capacity 45ml, I think, against 15ml by HP.
However, as my previous supplier dried up, I saw an advert for www,247ink.com and tried them £9.99 for my cartridge POST FREE! Not only that, but send them an empty and they will credit you with £1 (plus 18 pence VAT). How about that and they are indistinguishable from the manufacturer's offerings.
Concerning colour cartridges, I usually stick to the originals, because I have had trouble with refills - mind you, I haven't tried 247ink's yet!
Finally, there is a 90 day guarantee with 247ink cartridges - and no, I don't work for them - I am just a satisfied customer - they are part of RedShark company - and do all the range of cartridges for it seems all printers - TRY THEM.
Hope this is helpful to you all - and I use Inksaver - which is also a brilliant piece of software -get it and save even further!
What a great site this is!!0 -
Yikes
A colour cartridge for my HP 1220c is £41.00 on pricestorm, looks like I'll be bidding on ebay for my next supply.0 -
I fitted a non-original 78 colour cartridge from 247ink about a week ago. It is perfect - cannot tell any difference from a genuine 78, except half the price!Retired and Happy.0

An update on the 56/57/58 cartridges; 'the computer shop' have recently increased their prices a bit so they are now £44.83 for a set.
However, I did find (can't remember how!) a site called P400.com, which has the look of the computer shop and is run from a similar addressand they have slightly different pricing arrangement. If you spend more than £50 you get free P&P, so 2 black and one of each colour and photo will cost £52.44. Lees than that and it's rather high £5.88.
I haven't tried them yet because the computer shop is still better for one-offs, but if I do then I'll post a comment.
7 day would want £52.46 + £2.95 P+P.0 -
Have just bought an HP Photosmart 7450 and discovered that it has only been supplied with one cartridge, No 57, which has the soft grey tones. At the moment, I just want to print b/w ie No 56. I'm checking on sites mentioned here but they only feature Model 7350. Do I assume that 56 for that model will be fine for my newer one?
Also, should I have been supplied with 56 as well, or is it normal practice to have just one cartridge in a new printer? Seems more logical that a b/w one would have come with the printer, plus it's annoying that I keep getting a message that 'a cartridge has been removed' when I have'nt 'removed' anything.
Mind you, it was bought from PC World so I suppose I should count myself lucky that there was even one cartridge supplied, and I bought it from them only because I had a voucher from a returned item, so no choice! ::)'Puritanism: the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy'.

HP cartridges are generally used for several different printers in their range. If it says that you need a number 56 then you should be able to buy it anywhere. The website probably hasn't been updated recently to include your model.0
