Your diary has been really interesting. Glad you've both done the deed-we told my Dad and to be honest he wasn't very impressed, shame etc i think. But i'm/we're not ashamed, neither of us are happy about the route we've had to take, but like you say better to have a happier debt-free life than constantly worrying about debts, phone calls etc. All the very best to you both and i so hope you get to keep your car. Our's have to say is going back to HP company soon, but now we'll save up and BUY OUR OWN!!!

Hmmm... interesting development with our former bank account.
I've just called the OR office as last week's CTC payment went into our old bank account and I wanted to check it was okay to withdraw. It turns out they've written to Lloyds and said that they have no interest in the account and I was told to just carry on using the account as normal. I was a little surprised as this is a regular current account with a £150 overdraft and cheque book on it, which admittedly we've never used. I've just now been on the online banking and everything is working as normal, no restrictions, offer of an internet savings account if I want it and the overdraft still available. I suspect Lloyds will close it down anyway and it just takes time for the wheels to turn at such a large organisation but it would be a real bonus if we get to keep this account open.0 -
Today is a good day!!
First off, we went to view some rentals, loved one and put the holding deposit down with a view to moving in mid-October. Only a couple more weeks of my noisy neighbours, hurrah!
Then I got home and found a letter from the OR confirming that we can keep our family car - I am so relieved and delighted. The Fiesta has to go but I was expecting that anyway plus we just don't need it so it hasn't really bothered me.
Then, Liverpool beat Everton which means hubby won't be in a mood for the rest of the weekend.
Perhaps I should go a stick a quid on the lottery tonight?? :rotfl:0 -
Time for an update I think!!!
We moved into our rented home in the middle of October and have settled in very well indeed. I had my baby at home in January and we are all basically very happy and incredibly glad to have gone into bankruptcy when we did. It's the absolute best thing we could have done.
We finally filled in the vol repo forms a couple of months ago and took them to the local branch along with the keys. The mortgage co. took possession last month and the house is up on rightmove already. Talk about relieved to be rid of it!! Soon after the vol repo had gone through, we got a court order from First Plus' agents seeking repo which made us chuckle seeing as the house was no longer ours to repossess.
So here we are, 7 months on and much much happier, less stressed and actually able to afford to live. It was a very drastic step and not one to be entered into lightly but it was definitely the best solution for us and the answer to all of our problems.0 -
On a mission, glad to hear you're settled. I filled in the paperwork for voluntary repossession a little while ago, once I had got a council house. I'd already been to court and the mortgage lender could have repossessed anytime after 8th October but I managed to fend them off! There's only me and my two children but found it such a relief to move out of a house that could be repossessed at anytime. Only downside has been the massive negative equity which has arisen as the mortgage lender just went for a quick sale - leaving me at least 35K to find and pushing me into the BR decision. Now I just need to apply for BR (once I've managed to get hold of my CCCS counsellor) and I'm sorted.
Oh and congratulations on the new addition to your familyBR 08/06/09 ED 10/03/10BSC member 2500 -

Yippee yay yay!!!
I've just checked the insolvency register and I am now discharged.
I guess it's time to start the credit clean up and get those credit reports ordered.
Life is so much easier these days and the year has really flown by and becoming bankrupt hasn't given us any bother at all in our day-to-day lives. It's so nice being able to pay for everything at point of purchase or using a bank card and knowing that the funds are there.
Bizarrely, our Lloyds regular account is still up and running with cheque and overdraft facility (only £150). We've been going into the OD then paying it off every month as we figure it can't hurt our credit to see it being cleared every month. We both do Avon too, which is also credit based and gets cleared every 3 weeks.
Anyway... one year down - five to go until it is behind us0 -
Oh and our old house has finally gone from Rightmove, it got reduced so many times and was last listed at £30K less than we originally paid 5 years ago. I guess that means it's either sold or gone to auction but we're so glad to be shot of it. It became a prison for us, trapped by our mortgage and secured loan, and it was the last place we wanted to be and hated living there in the end.0
