When asking about moving the service I had to my new property I was told that I could do this once I had moved so naturally I believed this would be ok.
To date, Primus have been absolutely useless, when I telephoned after moving they kept trying to open a new account and telling me that I would have to pay for a new line to be installed.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Some advice please...
Am I correct in understanding primus is the cheapest for line rental £6.79/month?
However
whats the cheapest option for me?-
I have no active line
I would like the cheapest connection
also would like cheapest line rental
what are my options or alternatives? I have been on homephonechoices but can't seem to find something suitable.0 -

Yes. Primus is the cheapest though you'd be wise to exercise your mouse and finger and click back, even just a few pages to see what peoples experience with Primus is.
You didn't mention whether you have a BT line installed.
If not, the cheapest way is to go BT initially as the line install is currently discounted to £30.
ALL other Martin Lewis's recommendations (as of a couple of weeks ago) had line installation costs of up to £130.
Thereafter you can change to whoever offers the best then.0 - I have no active line

Avoid NewCallTelecom/Primus
1. there are cheaper alternatives
2. there are much better customer focussed companies
Primus/NewCall have been found guilty of failing customers by the regulator Otelo, and even refuse to respond to communication and the decisions of the Ombudsman, so rest assured they are not interested in little fish like small customers.
The call centres are offshore and they will talk over you, never call back as promised, refuse you to speak to a manager, fail to bill you correctly etc etc
Despite giving a Glasgow address, there is no-one in the UK they will let you speak to.
THEY ARE A COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY THAT CANNOT COMMUNICATE, and should not be recommended by MSE because they are the consumers nightmare.0 -
I see the new TalkTalk offer via Simplify Digital undercuts my current package with them - anyone any experience of being an existing customer (well out of minimum contract) and being able to take advantage of this offer?
I can't check through the TalkTalk site because I'm an existing customer, but guess it'll be available in my area...0 -
Damn, answered my own question:You will need to be a NEW TalkTalk customer, and have an existing BT compatible line.

I have switched from BT to Primus but BT are continuing to charge me £3.42 per quarter for equipment rental - an old corded 'phone. How do I stop this- buy a phone and tell BT to collect the existing phone?0
