I received a cheque from Cex which bounced. I then 'received' a payment onto my debit card from Cex which never arrived. After complaining again, yet another payment was put onto my debit card. Once again, this has not arrived in my bank!! I was even given the authorisation code this time...

So I guess these insolvency rumours must be true and i'm 183 pounds poorer!!!

I'd be very surprised if I ever saw that money!!! Not sure what to do next, so any help welcome please!!

I was going to buy a slimline PS2 from Cex next month ... Am i being silly expecting it to last years?

I have seen brand new DS lites cheaper than the ones in CEX.

took my hubby's phone in but they would not accept it without the 'original charger' it had a travel charger with it. why IS that?

Cex is a rip-off, selling a second hand PS3 for £325 with no games. Even Sony RRP is only £299.99 BRAND NEW. What a joke

I recommend ppl who still not got pay or bounced cheque from Cex should contact Trading Standard, as when i contacted them, I was being told that alot of ppl in the same boat and we can put Cex on WatchDog of BBC. A month ago, bailiffs came to one of the store in manchester trying to close the store down but the manager gave them a gold handshake to delay the process..So be careful ppl. Your stuff sold to Cex might have been re-sell it again at a rip-off price and a big profit for Cex when they seems like not paying you guys.

I can explain to that for you as Cex has to give 1 year warranty to customer and they can't guarantee a 3rd party charger as it has no manufacture sign or any voltage description on the charger. That's why they don't accept it

ihatecex.. if you hate it just stay away from it... get over yourself it aint just about you yes people are allowed there opinoins but your taking it way to personal i work for cex and yes its not the best job in the world but its people like you that make it worse.. if we are going bust then were going bust but saying the things your saying aint gonna help anybodies situation is it? x

You are full of rubbish...a lot of the stuff you say is either mis-truths or exaggeration.

You are right about our customer services number...but if you care to get the facts, you will find that CeX have move over to a web-based customer services system;

Hahaha..you are rubbish enough to work for Cex rather than getting another job somewhere else. CEX move over to web-based custy service as because there are so much complain on customer service and the headoffice putting the responsibility into your own store so that they can be slagging in a tiny 1st floor office where all their departments are.

FYI I know a lot about phones, electronics and computing. That's why I test...if you don't know your stuff you don't test. If a tester misses a fault...you still have your 12-Month warranty! I've worked very hard to gain my technical knowlege...which is the same of all our testers. We might be young, be we know our stuff.

Ohh yeah ? Don't even think you are good by saying you know about phones, if you don't have this job, don't fight for a test position, you wouldn't be f888 all.

Anyone can be on test, a test is guided in the book, and the testing is the most easiet job.

you don't need qualifications to prove knowledge...but I have a BTEC Diploma in IT, and got triple distinction...highest level you can get. Testers are all trained...and CeX provide us with loads of info and guidelines to make sure we do it right.

hahahahahahhahaha, if I were you, I would work for Microsoft or Intel where i can use my knowledge but who care about BTEC when it comes to professional IT department ?
you are full of yourself dude, a Btec is just a !!!!!! diploma where you can get if you are not good enough to go for a Beng degree. You said don't need any knowledge and look at you, you are saying you know this know that, got this got that, that's why you are a tester. But what have you got in the end ? You still working for Cex at bloody minimum wages and still waiting for every single payday to pay for your debts ? I can tell by the way how you good you say you are.

I think the main lesson from this rather silly post from rorypie is to avoid this grotty shop at all costs.

I am however that the goods are "tested" by a part-time member of staff. How hard this person must have worked to achieve their "testing" qualifications.

Thanks a lot TheWoodenMan, i've not been at CeX for very long (about 6 months) but i saw this massive slagging match going on and felt the need to say something. There were a lot of nasty things going around here and i tried to even things up...of course i seem to have got a few things a bit wrong! Thanks for speaking out though...you seem to be the only other Cex employee (at least one who makes it clear they are) with anything positive to say.

You are right, Andy is a nice guy and that how the modest store should be. This is a comment from most of the staff.

I don't claim to have knowledge of all things technological...i have knowledge but not all knowledge. I'm always learning, as are all of us. It's part of life, you stop learning you stop living.

If you came to work with no training, you are just a normal person, don't think just a bit of knowledge and you can be OTT. We are not wasting your time, it is you who is wasting your own time, perhaps looking for a better job I suggest

I will now add my weight to warn people about using CEX.I have used them several times and eventually extracted proper payment from them - but I do mean exstracted - while others had problems. However, I have now been stiffed by them (albeit for a small amount) and had severe aggravation from them. I recommend you accept less money from an honest site (there are several).
