Well, I've emptied out the contents of a 'half ' growbag to find 2kg of small spuds!!!! :j

This was from just a single rooster spud that was starting to sprout in the kitchen and if I'd left them longer I'm sure the weight would be double that as they're still a bit on the small side and there were loads of tiny buds starting to grow too. I don't think there would have been enough room in the growbag for them all to grow full-size though

    Piccy of them here ...

I've got another larger tub with 3 more in so will leave those be for another month or two ;)

Oh, I also dug up one of my pink fir apple's again the other day and the result was much better than last time, although still somewhat dissapointing compared to some varieties - 750g - don't think I shall bother growing those again. They are so damned fiddly to prepare too with all the little nodules

  • Hiya all, I don't have a pic of my spuds but I had 12 seed potatoes in all, and out of 4 pots I have had about 12lb of various size spuds! From quite large to cherry sized, but they were very nice indeed and as it was my first time growing spuds I was very pleased indeed!
    :j
I'm looking forward to spuds at Xmas now :D

Firkle is a very technical, specialist term to describe having a sneaky feel about in your potato pot to see what is there:rotfl:

I dug up my last 4 caras today, I got 13lbs. That makes a total of 26 1/2 lbs off ten plants.

WOW!!!! I've yet to dig up my caras, bar a couple of plants I've sampled over the last couple months, so I'm really looking forward to it :D

I've got about a dozen left to dig up, although I'm not sure how best to store them if I take them all out of the ground now

Also got about a dozen pink fir apples that are more or less ready to dig up. What's the best way to store them to use over the next few months? I was thinking of leaving them in the ground and taking what I need, at least until the frosts arrive

Hi, you have to store them in the dark, and I think keep them dry. I only pull what I can eat, but have a fancy kind of potatoe sack I can store some in, would hold around 10lb I think. Only bought that cos it was a purchase to be made for mystery shopping. Can your greengrocer give you one of those big sacks they are delivered in?
