I know its a random question! And hard to give any kind of answers as it so far away, however I am a First Time Buyer but I am paying off my debts and saving a deposit so it wont be until 2010 when i can realistically start looking at purchasing a property.

Any ideas on where the economy or housing market will be then?

(tell me to bog off and stop being so silly at trying to predict the future if you want :p :rotfl: )

Most analysts I've read are of the opinion that the worst will be over for the economy by then (eg unemployment will be high but falling). The majority of predictions are that house prices will be substantially lower in 18 months than now. Of course if you have lost your job or aren't getting the overtime you budgeted for then that's not much use to you!

As you can't know what the future will bring, all you can do is what's right for you. From your post that sounds like carrying on saving and clearing your debts.

Be careful guys, this is one of the Huggies that is asking and you know how they like to be told what they want to hear. The last thread started by one of them got deleted because they complained to Martin about the (frankly accurate) advice they got because it wasn't what they wanted to hear.

Don't waste your breath; let me carry on in their own little dream-worlds.

    Rob

Excuse me, how dare you say that.

I have taken on board what people have said. Im finding it hard to understand some of it as I am not up on the Lingo, but thats my look out and i am trying (hence I havent posted a reply as I dont want to sound stupid!).

I asked a question and i expect honest answers (as far as is humanly possible, as I know it is pretty much "crystal ball reading" to a point).

In no way did i have an answer in my head that I wanted every person to say, i actually genuinely wanted people's opinions. If i really wanted to "carry on" in my "own little dream world" then i wouldnt of asked the question.

    OK Rob, got it....

Ahem..... 2010 --- the UK is leading the world with its wondrous new technological miracles which are made in huge non-polluting factories that can pay the army of workers £1000/week & still make huge profits.
Retirement on vast pensions at age 55 is guaranteed for all as there is full employment.
Youth crime is dealt with by public caning. It took a month for crime figs to drop to almost zero (only a few weirdos were disappointed)
Adult crime has become almost non-existent too since the deal with Singapore to send all miscreants there; & their ordeals shown on TV.
Profiteering from more than one house is now illegal. Land is now state owned & controlled.
Every Britain was given a Spanish apartment for free. Their govt being grateful just for the annual property tax revenue on their otherwise worthless concrete piles.
Daily worship of President Balls is mandatory.
(Laura has still not returned to the UK)

That was really worth your time and effort typing that wasnt it. :T You.

99% of the people on here will do anything to pass on advice to those who ask questions, others just like to inflate their own self importance by posting insulting replies to genuine enquiries.

It's very hard to tell what will be happening in a couple of years' time.

I think what is clear, though, is that house prices and credit are unlikely to be much more expensive and freely available.

So paying off debt, and then saving, as you are doing, is the best option, I'd reckon.

You must be the exception to the "rule" then. All the rest of your lot from the Huggy board that come here for advice spit their dummies out and get Martin to close the thread they started because the advice wasn't what they wanted to hear. I can recall 3 threads over the past 2 weeks where this has happened and they were all started by Huggy's like yourself, hence the warning to others. Apologies if you do actually want to hear the truth as opposed to only the bits that fit your agenda.

And yes, you are correct, I do have an issue with the regular's on that board because they're a bunch of time-wasters.

    Rob

I dont care if im the exception to the rule or not! (whatever the "rule" is!)

It is so rude of you to go around accusing me of not wanting to hear any "real" answers, just because there have been instances on this board before. Did i at any point on this thread "spit my dummy out" regarding the opinions that have been posted? No... so there was no need for you to post the response that you did.

If you have issues with people from the DFW board thats your prerogative, but name-calling and tarring everyone with the same brush belongs in the playground.

This forum is meant to be for everyone, and I shouldnt feel worried about posting on a different board just because i am a regular poster on another one. That, to me, is just ridiculous.

Anyway, you've got your advice now so I hope it was what you expected !! Thank you and good day.
