Ooooo Hilary, that's given me inspiration.
At work there is a combi microwave, but only the microwave setting gets used....anyhoo....there are 2 racks with it of different heights. They could be perfect for my Grand, when I order it.
Wonder if I can persuade Mr Twit before the prices go up
I tried the racks from my combi microwave in my grand but they were no good, just slightly too big.I bought the rack and it was worth it so I don't mind.I would still try though they might work.I hope you have more luck.0 -
Made a lovely dinner in my grand today, roast chicken, spuds, sweet spuds, parsnips, onions and did a baklava in the standard which was gorgeous, much better than if I had done it in the oven.
Glad everyone is enjoying their new remoskas, discovered that my lid wobbles a bit but I think it is because the sides of the lid are smooth, not a problem as dinner cooked beautifully. I got a lot of juice from the chicken and found it tricky to drain off so veg could have been a bit crisper, next time I think I will try the rack.Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

Just reporting back....
Everything cooked up fine and the Lasagna was in a plastic not foil dish and was fine. I left the chips in a little longer and they crisped up well.

After last nights complete success with spuds I want to use my remoska today to cook the cabbage to go with the roast pork (why didnt I buy a grand and could have fitted a joint and spuds in it )
I usually cook it in a wok, fry pancetta and onions then add chopped savoy cabbage and some sherry, can I do it in the remoska do you reckon? I can't fit my le creuset in the oven at the same time as roasting tin otherwise would do it in there to use up the oven space....0 -

Must get some of this magic liner - any suggestiond for anything cheaper than Lakeland (can't afford to add postage for it).
I bought a silicone cake tin from Home Bargains for £1.99 and it fits the bottom of the standard perfectlyYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
OK, the perfect chip quest continues.....
I have had success with potato wedges:j
I first of all cooked the pots in their skins in the microwave for 5 minutes then cut them into wedge shapes which were big enough not to fall down the gaps in the rack.
I sprayed them with frylite and sprinkled with s&p..result lovely crispy potato wedges. They were cooked for about 15mins over a chicken chasseur but I did lift the lid once to let out the steam.
I also made a fab turkey curry yesterday and cooked the rice along side it (well splodged at the side of it but I dont mind it being a bit messy:D ) the rice was beautiful I cooked it in a foil dish that I bought a joint of meat in and covered it in boiling water then a lid of tin foil, cooked light and fluffy and no horrible rice pan to clean. But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
I was given lots of bramley cooking apples, picked some blackberries and have just served the loveliest apple and blackberry crumble, cooked to perfection in the remoska.
I have frozen several portions of the apple mix, can you freeze uncooked crumble mix, does anyone know?

Yes! You can also assemble the crumble and freeze it uncooked if you have a suitable dish.
Sounds lovely....:T0 -
Just cooked our first evening me: rolled breat of lamb. Took a little longer than the oven (10-15 mins,) but I think that is partly my inexperience. I might cut it in half next time and raise it nearer the lid. Heated the pre cooked morrocan stew we have with it along side it at end so no other leccie/gas used. Most wonderful no smeech smoke filling the house as per when using oven:j . Lamb very tender. Looking forward to geting some sort of lining and different pots to use inside.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
