I've got a Remoska, one of my better kitchen gadget purchases, meaning it doesn't stay in the back of the cupboard gathering dust! I use it at least once a week. Lakeland are the only ones who sell them in this country.

I love my Remoska too! Expensive but worth every penny, in fact it must have paid for itself several times in saved electricity costs. I've had it for about five years and I only use my big oven for Yorkshire puddings (I know you're supposed to be able to do them in the Remoska but I find they rise up so well they touch the top and then burn).

I make little buns/cakes in the Remoska and they are lovely and light, much better than in a standard oven. I've got the big Remoska and it will take a dozen. I save the little foil tins that you get with things like Mr Kipling individual fruit pies, and use these to support the bun cases in the Remoska. I find a two egg all-in-one mixture (2 eggs, 4oz SR flour, 4oz caster sugar, 4oz soft margarine, just mix it all together) makes exactly the right amount. You don't need to preheat the Remoska, just pop them in and turn it on cold; they take about 15 mins. I often make chocolate buns by substituting 1oz of cocoa for 1oz of the flour.

I'm another Remoska fan. Bought it for the camper van, but it is being used in the house all the time. Yesterday I did a batch of slow-roast tomatoes in it for the lentil & goat's cheese salad. Today it will do the jacket potatoes. Tomorrow it will do crumble for pudding..... it's brilliant!

I must admit that I have been tempted by a Remoska but which one to buy? I live on my own so I suppose the baby one would be best but occasionally I have someone stay over - would the small one be suitable for two?

I think it would be good for me to have one because I hate having to use my oven - it seems wasteful when its only for me.

Any tips/recommendations from the Remoska fans would be helpful. BTW is it easy to clean?

I wouldn't buy the baby one. There is me and my DS at home, but I use it for batch cooking stews and things and my Mum sometimes comes for dinner so the standard one is great.
And yes Fizzle I used a standard 8" cake pan that has a bit of a lip to it and it sits perfectly inside to make a shallow pan.

I agree - the baby one is a bit too small for the price and I wouldn't go for it.

I've got the Standard one and I wish I'd gone for an even bigger one, but I couldn't afford it at the time. I rarely use my oven now - once a fortnight maybe.

Am very interested in this thread as I have been tempted every time I go into Lakeland to buy the large one but always step back because I don't know anyone who has one. Is there any down side to them at all? are cooking times similar to those of an oven?
    Thanks

    Hi,

I've added this thread to an earlier one on Remoska cookers to keep all the views on them together.

the only downside that I have found is that the lid with the heating element gets very hot and you have to be careful where you lay it down so that you do not burn yourself accidentally or melt any plastic items nearby. Otherwise it is superb.
