Thanks shopndrop for your helpful information. The Ramoska seems much shallower in depth than the chip fryer and I should easily be able to view the glass lid. There are three of us here and now just wondering whether to go for a standard or Grande.

Last night I was watching a quite new Ramoska Grande with rack being sold on Ebay. It went for £90 (including rack) plus postage. Not a great lot cheaper than current Lakeland prices.

    Decisions! Decisions!

I had put a bid in for this early on and watched it go up and up til it just wasn't worth it. I ordered a new one instead and got my free gift...do some people just not think logically on ebay?

  • Thanks to you all for convincing me that it will be worth buying a remoska dispite the large costs upfront. I have the same dilemma as many, as to whether to buy the standard or grande. There is only 2 of us but I bulk cook alot so I have HM ready meal in the freezer for when I need them, so often cook for 4. The catelogue gives the measurements of the standard as 8.25 inches diametre and 3 inches deep. Is this corect - this seems very small for there claim of does for 2-4 people? That is the size of my oven casserole that I use just to cook for 2:confused: .
Also, can you cook bread in it? As when bread is risen in a 2lb loaf tin it can get quite high - more than 3 inches I would think. Any help gratefully received and going mad with indecision:o . I appreciate you keep getting asked the same question here about size comparison...
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

BB I would definitely recommend you go for the Grand. The Standard is supposed to be big enough for 2 -4 persons, but IMO is nowhere near big enough to cook for for 4. Those measurements are correct btw.

I agree with newleaf I would definitely go for the Grand. I don't think the standard is big enough for 4 people.
  • Thanks alot newleaf (and shopndrop)- I saw your last post made as I was writing mine and that also pretty much convinced me. Just got to do that last bit of esssential dithering now before biting the bullet and ringing for lower price:rotfl: .

I saw the ebay one and I can't believe the price they are going for, with no excellent customer service backup or freepost:confused:

    Could someone help please?

There are six of us, would the grand be big enough? eg when doing baked potatoes I tend to do 8 or 9 rather than one each. If having chicken I also go for a larger one so I have leftovers.

    Thanks

I sometimes think that e-bay is used so people can use funds from their PayPal account.
But my husband often remarks on some of the prices paid for tools etc, you can get them cheaper direct and brand new

I cooked a large chicken in the grand at the weekend and it was fine. Not much room for anything else though. Have just tried and I could fit 8 med/large potatoes in mine, so if they were all medium you could probably get 9 in.

I have just ordered the standard remoska, cant wait to get it, I ordered a rack also, but not the pans. Can anyone tell me the size of the shallow pan or separator so I can see if can pick up appropriate size cake tins in TK maxx. Also can I use metal utensils?
    Thanks :)

We are going to France on hols to a friend's cottage on Sat and taking the Moska. My OH (who hates 'wasteful' spending on gadgets) is so completely seduced by the Moska and its works that he says that if its good in France we'll leave it there for the friends to use (their oven is horrible - takes 30 mins to heat and is very unpredictable) and get another one for here !!! result ! But then I shall have the dilemma of whether to get another standard (which suits us OK tho I'd like to be able to cook a larger chuck) or a Grande. Ho Hum. I think that the OP on Moskas ought to be one of Martin's moneysaver tips as I am sure we have all saved a lot on energy bills, but then perhaps lakeland wouldn't be able to cope with the demand and the factory would go bust, which we don't want.
For supper last night we had: 1 onion and a couple of streaky rashers cooked in Moska till softened, then I added a jar of tomato and basil pasta sauce stuff I had rather extravagantly bought as a result of Delia's recent book, plus a bit of water and a slosh of Worcester sauce. Then i put in all the litle scrappy bits of chicken I managed to wrestle off an exhausted carcass (always more than you think it will give) and heated all that up till it was bubbling. Then I just sat a circle of magic liner on top of the tomato and chicken goo and put a little 'ready meal' thing in a foil dish which OH had bought and not eaten - it had broccoli in cheese sauce in it and cooked beautifully like that. With boiled new pots it was all delicious - the edge of the chicken goo had gone a bit brown and crispy and just added to the flavour. I'd do it again just with tinned toms and some herbs and not the expensive sauce next time. Yum !
