I'm interested in those who successfully roast chicken in the remoska - I've used mine for everything, but just can't fit a chicken in!
I bought a 1.66kg (the smallest in the farm shop) today - wouldn't fit. cut it in half - wouldn't fit! Ended up roasting two chicken legs with chorizo and garlic and making sauce by throwing in some creme fraiche - it was fabulous, but it wasn't a whole roast chicken. Do I have the extra-small standard?!0 -

Hi ubamother,
I used a grand when I roasted mine and that was a bit of a squeeze - I can imagine that it would be a bit of a struggle with a standard but perhaps somebody who has done this will be able to say how they managed it.

Thanks to the inspiration from this thread I am loving my Remoska more each day.
Like bargainaddict I had it when we had our kitchen gutted about three years ago. The whole job took a month so I reckon it paid for itself in what I saved in not having convenience meals or eating out.
I have used it very regularly since but now it it in constant daily use.
I pondered for a long time about getting a breadmaker as I like to make rolls rather than loaves. I did get a Panny but when I came to read the instructions I discovered I don't have sufficient depth of work surface for it as down one side it is very narrow and the other side is all under cupboards, so the Panny went back to the shop the next day.
I have now discovered that I can make rolls in the Remoska. I do 8oz flour which makes 8 small rolls - seven round the edge of my standard pan and one in the middle. When they are done they look like a flower and break up into rather strange shapes. But hey, I'm sure I remember having something similar from M&S years ago and the main thing is that they are delicious and just no trouble at all.
Happy Remoskering to one and all,

Well, I've decided I can't justify buying a grand as I already have a standard! And I am only cooking for me - I'll continue making two cob loaves which fit the standard.
I have successfully cooked whole chicken up to about 1kg in the standard. It touches the lid but still cooks, and I start it off upside down and turn it over half way through. No room for roasties though!
Like other Remoskans, I have never had my oven on in the past 4 months since buying the Remoska. My lodger has the baby Remoska and she would struggle to get anything bigger than a chicken leg in there - but she's a vegetarian! But it was seeing what she could cook in her Remoska that inspired me to go for one. I'm looking forward to seeing what difference it makes to the electricity bill - allowing for recent increases.
Thanks for all the lovely ideas and recipes!

Thanks Clutterfree, I am proud
sorry I didn't take a piccie, its like a pack of hungry wolves descending whenever food appears and hard to get the camera out amid the scrum! I'll try harder...
Hi Ubamother, I did a chicken in my standard and it was ok, I don't know what size it was, medium or small? It fir ok though.

all these recipes sound so delish I am trying to build up a bank of ideas ahead of my purchase next week! But wouldn't it would be so much easier if there was a thread of just remoska recipes somewhere like the slow cooker ones? (or is there one and i just haven't found it?)
Well done to your daughter DH :T- Make 2023 in 2023 # £00/2023

I did a 1.4 kg chuck in the standard on monday (no room for potatoes!) did it on it's tummy for 1/2 hr then right way up for about 45 minutes. I put some foil on the edges to stop it burning, the kids loved it and said it was very moist.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

Well done to your daughter DH :TI'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0 -
Thanks Emmilou for the well done and yes, I agree that it would be a great idea to start a thread just for remoska recipes...
AlwaysHappy, how about just balancing the salmon on top of the spuds? They should be ok and you could fit everything in then. I can see that I would have probably fitted more into the grand but I'm having fun (in my own little private world!) trying to fit everything into my standard. Tonight I am doing a beef curry, I've got some beef marinating in some pataks madras paste in the fridge and might try some naan bread on the rack.Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
