  • Hi All,
I want to try my first roast chicken today.
    It is 1.4kg.
Any idea of how long it will take approximately please?
    I have the Grand.
    Thanks.

    Hi Clutterfree,

I'm certainly no remoska expert but when I cooked a chicken the other day I stayed with the standard 20-25 mins per 500g plus 20 mins and it came out great (it was just over 2.5kg and just fitted in!!) - for your chicken I guess that would be about 1 hour 20 mins or so. It gives 45 mins for a 1 kg chicken in the cookery leaflet with the remoska - could always do the standard checking to see if the juices run clear as it gets towards the 1 hour 5 min mark or there about.

  • Please can anyone tell me if it is possible to use a 2lb loaf tin in the Grand Remoska? Or even 2 tins?

    Thanks

I've just put my 2lb silicone loaf "tin" in my Grand and taken a pic for you so you can see how much room there is.
2 X 2lb tins would not fit, though.

    HTH.

    Hi groatie queen,

just tried it and with my 2lb loaf tin can only get 1 in (with a bit of room round it) or 2 1lb loaf tins (which pretty much fill the space available).

PS did try 1 of each size to see if would fit but wouldn't

    Hi all

Just wanted to say thankyou to whoever posted that lakeland would still honour the price in the summer book :T
I wanted one of these a couple of years ago.. but talked myself out of it... i have now talked myself back into it :rotfl:

There are only 2 of us so I went for the :-
    standard remoska @ £79.99 -saving £10
    the seperator pan @ £16.99
oh and whilst i was at it 6 bottles of ecover washing up liquid @79p instead of £1.58, cheaper than my stuf out here..all in all it should have come to -£116.46 at full prices, i pay a bit less vat out here so i paid £98.78 -saving a total of £17.74..... plus the free silicone utensils and still free postage by using hubbies BFPO work address :j so thankyou sooo much for the tip ;)

I resisted getting the shallow pan and trivet as im sure i will find an alternative out here ;)
forgot to say..hubby has agreed to me having that as a xmas pressie -so i will get the money back later this week too..lol

Sparklymessygirl- I got some silicone liner this week from Aldi £ 1.99 for 2 sheets, and they also had it in Poundland (for a £1! obviously),think the Aldi stuff is a bit thicker.I've cut one for the bottom of my Remoska pan,one for thetop with a little circle cut out for if things are browning too quick, and some for various tins I use,v. impressed.

Have just had a go at making the Eccles Cakes.

The recipe in the big book tells you to mix raisens, sugar, nutmeg and butter. I think it should say -cream sugar and butter then mix in fruit. This is what it says in the little booklet and it would have saved me a lot of mess.

Also, the quantity of 500g of raisins is totaly ove the top. I now have about 200g of raisins mixed with sugar and butter and not sure what to do with them.

I cooked the first batch in the bottom of the deep pan. Took 25 mins and were a bit greasy.

Tried second batch in shallow pan and these would have been great but that I left them in too long. Would have cooked to perfection in 10 mins. I know this because i had 2 left and popped them in for a third run and they were lovely.

Shows the difference in cooking in the deep and the shallow pans. I know the top had already heated up for the 2nd and 3rd runs but the cooking time is cut a lot.
Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend
  • I have made a choc cake today out of the Mary Berry book again and it turned out lovely DD2 has iced it and stuck decorations on for DD2 as she passed a GCSE early (she's only 14 so chuffed to bits) celebrating with the remoskan meatballs out of the recipe book but they didn't seem very exciting so I have put onions and garlic in them and some herbs, popped them in with some sliced onion and have sliced some baguette and put chopped garlic with butter on top, these will go on the rack nearly at the end of cooking time. Oooh, nearly forgot to say I found a jar of dolmio sauce at the back of the pantry (bought when on BOGOF) so will chuck a bit of that in near the end too. So far so good.

I got some beef in sainsburys today on special offer so I think I will do a curry for tomorrow (jar job again lol!) and also spotted some lamb shanks which looked quite meaty so planning these too at some stage as I reckon they will come out nice.

So please that everyone is enjoying their remoskas, its so nice to chat about it and pick up ideas, thanks to everyone :)
