  • Been itching to use my new toy all day so just baked some fairy cakes in there.
I've taken a pic, not to show my culinary skills (or lack of!) :o but to give others an idea of the size of the Grande Remoska because, if you are anything like me, it is hard to visualise.
I just managed to fit in 12 silicone cake cases.
Some did come out more golden than others but the anaemic looking ones are cooked as well and once iced nobody will know! :D
One thing that is an improvement on my baking is there are no "domes" rising up in the middle. :T
Still have the taste test to do....

I love your buns, thanks for posting the piccie.

I'm planning on making a couple of cakes tomorrow ready for the weekend as family are visiting so I'll use the remoska tin as it turned out well last time. I need a new cookery book just for baking I think, all the books I have seem to contradict each other on amounts etc but I do use the be-ro book a lot.

Today I made (another ratatouille) due to having 4 courgettes in the garden and we seem to have eaten a lot of meat lately. We had it with remoska bread to mop up the juices and some couscous which was all delish. I'm going to have a go at stuffed vine leaves tomorrow so I'll let you know how I get on...

We had a 1.3kg chicken tonight which I stuffed with an onion, some garlic and some thyme, and put some bacon on top and started off right way up for 30 mins. Ends of legs (the nasty scrawny bits) got a bit burnt so perhaps a bit of foil on them would have been good - tho it didn't matter. I turned it over after 1/2 hour for about 30 mins and then did it right way up again to crisp on top for about another 10 mins and it was wonderful, very tender. So you can do a chuck in a Standard, tho no room for spuds. Took the fat off the cooking juices and just used the meaty stuff underneath as unthickened gravy (aka 'jus') - less fattening and easier than making proper gravy. Now looking forward to having sarnies tomorrow, and risotto with the chicken as it was so tasty. It touched the lid which worried me, but it didn't seem to matter. My OH hates gadgets but is starting to think the Moska is brilliant (all that power saved and so easy to wash up) !!!! I am afraid I have ordered the Moosewood cookbook too as really want to eat more veggie stuff and less meat. Call this a moneysaving thread ???? !!!!
  • I just got one too. I picked the standard for me and 2 kids - and I got the shallow pan too. I have done baked potatoes, scones and a simple chicken breast on a bed of veg. All came out great - esp pleased with the scones. Amazing invention.

I recently gave my slow cooker to my mum who's finding her oven hard to use as she gets older, but I think I might get her one of these too as she loves to cook a big healthy meal every day.

She esp likes to cook casseroles - anyone got any recipes they want to share?
  • Hi Everyone

Its very interesting reading everyone's experiences of the remoska. Based on what's been said I've bought myself a grande one! It only arrived today so not had a chance to use it yet. I love baking so I'll be sure to post my experiences on here too.

I just thought I would let you all know that you can still get the remoskas at the 'old' price (79.99 standard & 99.99 for the grand). You will need to phone to order rather than use the internet and say you have seen the remoska in the Lakeland 'Out of Kitchen' catalogue. The 'old' prices are valid until 31st August as stated in this catalogue. When I queried the price increase I had an e-mail to confirm that you can still order via the catalogue.

I just thought it may help anyone who's considering ordering one - it is a tenner after all!

    Bye for now

    Rachel

    Thanks money_spider,

Did as you suggested and I emailed lakeland late last night and queried the £10 difference in price and an email was waiting for me this morning advising that they would honour the lower price and that a note would be made on my account to get it at this price if I ordered by phone by the 31st August. I have ordered the remoska grand as there are 5 of us - quite often 6 and I have also ordered the shallow dish, rack and cookbook and paid the additional £5 to have it delivered by next day delivery - or in this case slightly longer with it being ordered on a Friday - can't wait to put all the hints, tips and recipes I've read on this thread into practise!

    Thanks again

Dont know if this is cheap but Amazon have got individual silicone muffin cases - think they were around £3.30. Was on there this morning as have finally decided to buy a food slicer.

Just wondered if anyone has made a curry in the Remoska? I usually use chicken pieces, curry paste, stock, tinned tomatoes, onions and any other vegies and let simmer on hob... will probably try anyway as everything else seems to be coming out so well!

Does anyone on here with the Grand Remoska have both the deep pan and the shallow pan please?

I was considering ordering the shallow pan but the depth of the deep pan is 9.5cm or 3 3/4 inches and the shallow pan is 8cm or 3 inches.

Does that 1.5cm less depth really make much of a difference?

I think I may just go for a rack instead.

    Would appreciate any advice please.
    Thank you.

I do a really easy casserole in the slow cooker. Chuck in some braising steak, a tin of chopped tomatoes, carrots, onions and potatoes. Add an Oxo cube, and a little bit of water.

Leave it on all day, and if it looks a bit watery, just add some beef gravy granules

I have the grand size.I bought the rack but decided that the pans were just too costly for what they were and so I got two different cake pans at TK MAX.They only cost me £3.99 and £4.50 each and are not too different to the deep and shallow pans and are realy sturdy.I also bought a silicone mat to cut to size to line the base incase I need it when baking in it.That was only £2.50 so I was quite pleased with myself.I just would'nt pay the price of the deep and shallow pans I think they are so overpriced.
  • I have a grande and both the deep and shallow pans and the rack. I use the shallow pan a lot - it really does make a difference. I think stuff turns out better using the shallow pan than the deep pan and the rack, esp for things like sausages, they brown all over instead of just on top.

If you are cooking something that is not tall (ie bacon, eggs, fairy cakes, casserole, chips) it takes about 1/2 the time in the shallow pan. It is a lot of money but I am very glad to have mine.
