Hi all,
I was wondering if any of you have a Remoska oven - and if so do you think it saves money? A friend of mine was raving about hers yesterday, she says it cooks everything you would in your oven, at the same speed but at a fraction of the cost.
I don't like putting my oven on unless I am filling it so thought it might be a good investment, apparently Lakeland Limited sell them.
Any thoughts gratefully received!!

Hi - I have been without a cooker for a couple of weeks and the new one gets delivered on Tuesday. I have noticed a remarkable drop in electricity usage since we haven't had the oven, probably because DD1 (16) is for ever putting the oven on and forgetting about it when I am out - she comes home from school at lunchtime and makes oven chips (I know but...) and then goes back to school and leaves it on. I am coming to the end of a two year price capping thing with Scottish Power and have been warned that my costs will increase alot, but I am concerned at the amount of electricity we already use. I have used my slow cooker over the last two weeks and DD2 and I have loved some of the stuff, but sometimes you just want nice crisp chicken or a nice roast and I have been looking at the Remoska oven in Lakeland. I thought I saw a thread about one on here a while back, but the search has brought no results. I wondered, do any of you have one, and if so would you recommend it? Does it use much electricity? I have googled Remoska but only get links to the lakeland site and to ebay, neither of which give much information. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.Jane

Hi Jane,
I think this might be the thread you were thinking of:
Comparing Running Costs of Remoska/Pressure Cooker/Slow Cooker

I have a Remoska as we haven't had a cooker for 18 months and won't for the forseeable future...
It is really good - you can cook anything in it - cakes, scones, chicken, bread + butter pudding, etc. The roast chicken is excellent. It crisps up things but they don't dry out. I did a pork joint in it the other week that was fantastic.
I don't know about electricity savings, mine is the Grande 500 watts - big enough for the four of us, I think the smaller one would be too small. Not having an oven I can't compare bills, but just for cooking though I would highly recommend it!! I imagine I will still use it the most even after we get a proper cooker. Get the rack and shallow pan as well, they are really useful.
Just saw this on ebay - not heard of one before but you can use it as an electric frying pan as well, looks pretty good and costs less than the Remoska????:happylove0 -
I love my Remoska. It was expensive, true, but I haven't regretted buying it. Nearly everything I cook in it turns out better than it would in an oven ('specially cakes!) Originally I got it because I was living in a very small cottage with a hob but no oven. Now we've moved and I've got a proper oven but just about the only thing I use that for is Yorkshire puddings - I still prefer the Remoska for everything else. (Yorkshires are supposed to turn out well in the Remoska but for some reason I haven't had any success).0

It is expensive for what it is but we would not be without it. we had a mishap with ours last week (own fault) and had a new one delivered today.
Chicken amongst other things is superb from it.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
I have had a romuska for a long time, its great, makes superb toad in the hole, roast chicken etc, I cook scones in it as well as cakes, and you can now get a rack for the small ronuska as well as the big one for cooking joints without them standing in fat. Good also for re-heating food.........there is a web site with recipes on, I think Lakeland also do a Romuska cook book for about £10.
I was without an oven for 2 years, I used a Panasonic combination microwave, cooked everything in it from joints to grilled stuff etc.....its still going strong after 11years, and I still cook joints in it occasionally. I use it quite a bit in the summer the kitchen does not get so hot as if you use a full size cooker.
