I've just called Lakeland about my faulty Remoska - spoke to a lovely girl called Alison who said that they would immediately send me a new one as there is probably a fault with the one I bought. She said that it's not something that she'd heard of before, but there was no problem in replacing it. If only every firm had such good service.

I had exactly the same problem with mine a few months ago. Lakeland replaced it but also said that they had never heard of that problem before. The replacement one is fine and getting used practically every day - much easier than cleaning the oven!!!

lakeland are absolutely fab. I have been with them since they sold poly bags from an upstairs room in an oild property in the lakes (it might have been kendal, I can`t remember as it was ages ago)

I had to phone them today since a part of an item I bought 5 years ago came off. They refunded me no quibble at all

You lot have just made me spend a lot of money...I only went & ordered it!
I have been reading this thread for a while & decided I would wait for a few weeks and really save for it....then just had a quick look at the website and that was it, it was ordered.(did telephone & get the old price though).

Ok - here's where I justify it....obviously its going to save me heaps in electricity and I did need to do an order with Lakeland as had rung out of clingfilm for my lovely Lakeland dispenser (previous roll lasted me years though) & I also needed some more of theirvegetable peelers as others just dont work like those ones. Trouble is I then decided I needed their foil dispenser and obviously the foil to go in in. Then suddenly there was some Magic Liners in my basket  .

However this is fine, in the old days pre MSE I ordered loads of things like this without recommondations and they ended up dusty and in a cupboard, however I can honestly say since being on here everything I have bought is used on a regular basis. Well thats my excuse and I am sticking with it :D .

Cant wait now - will be looking out for the delivery man.

Please can everyone keep adding posts about their successes and failures if they have them? Which recipes they loved?

There seem to be a lot of newbies (like me) coming onto the thread and it is so helpful to read everyones experiences and tips.

I am just off to heat up 2 Hollands Cheese and Onion pies in the base (had to take them out of foil cases to get them in) with some chips in a top dish. First time trying chips.

This sophisticated catering knows no bounds :D
Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend

I did a sausage, onion and carrot casserole then threw in some new tatties on top, it was gorgeous. I was going to come in here & ask advice on freezing the remains, but by the time I got into the kitchen I found he had et them. :)

I made a lovely buttery madeira cake today, in a 7" cake tin and put a circle of silicone on top after 1/2 an hour. The recipe was from Mary Berrys ultimate cake book. I baked in the remoska for 65 minutes in total and expect it could have done with 10 minutes less but it looks and tastes lovely

I had 4 porkinson sausages in the freezer so made a yummy scrumptious casserole. Sliced potatoes, leeks, 1/2 an onion (lying in the fridge) some mushrooms (also lying in the fridge) some chopped sage. A peeled baking apple cut in chunks. I cut the sausages up and mixed everything up. Added a splash of wine and cooked for 50 minutes. In the last 5 minutes I pressure cooked some sliced carrots and put broccolli in the basket above. Both turned out perfectly. So a very very nice meal tonight

And to top all that I used water from my solar shower to wash up :D

lol snap mardatha and all mine went down the same way too. Our men must think we are goddesses :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Feeding two hungry adults.
I put 2 cheese and onion pies in the bottom of my standard.
Cut some chips (2 medium baking potatoes) and rubbed with a tiny bit of oil. Put these into a flan dish, (they did overlap a bit but any less would have been to few to bother with) and sat that on the metal rack.
    Left for 60 minutes.
A few chips had got brown edges but most were just steamed and soggy.

Is there any clever way of cooking chips with something else or do they have to "fly solo"?
We love our treat of pie and chips occasionaly and I really do not want to have to use the oven.

  • I bought my remoska last Friday (after some dithering and also reading all the great posts on this thread) and have to say I'm delighted. The first cake I tried wasn't a total success - but since then I've done the meatballs in tomato sauce recipe from the remoska cookbook, several lots of potato wedges and a lemon cake and all have been great :D
I'm finding that you have to experiment a bit with the cooking times but its so easy to use (and so easy to clean!) that I'd reccomend it to anyone.

I agree about the quality of stuff in Lakeland, I bought 82' of greaseproof paper last time I was in for £2.29, I thought that was excellent value. I usually buy things from wilkos but they end up in the bin after a while because they get worn out quick. I still can't bring myself to buy some of the things that cost a lot (like the silicone muffin tins, I'm going to check out the ones in asda next time I'm there) My bedtime reading is now the Lakeland catalogue especially the remoska page! Sad or what!

I bet you can't wait for your remoska to arrive!
