anyone done a toastie in the remoska yet please?

i read this thread daily and am so tempted to buy a remoska but unsure if i would use it often enough and the not heat settings on the pan itself puts me off.How do i know if somethings cooked ie cheese and potato pie,how does the bottom cook if the heats in the lid? as if i was using an oven i would cook the pie, then turn the gas down very low so the bottom cooks and the top goes brownish but not burnt?

    anyone know ?
  • Mrs Tittlemouse, thanks for telling us about the silicone baking cases in asda, I will look into those.

Squiggles, In answer to your questions, I don't know how it cooks the bottom of the food but it does! I wouldn't worry about the lack of heat settings as it really doesn't matter. Its so simple and effective that I reckon people must think there is a catch and there isn't...well I can't see one anyway. I made a lovely bread today and for tea I put red pepper, onion, aubergine, courgette and potato with garlic and olive oil, cooked it for 1/2 and hour then put 4 chicken breasts on top which had been mixed with the juice and zest of a lemon. Cooked it for another 30 mins and it came out perfect, we used the bread to mop up the juices and it all went!

I cook everday from scratch for my family and I am very, very impressed with the results. It cooks better than the cooker and the food is tasty. I love my SC but OH says it all tastes the same after a while, I thought this would be the same but it isn't, everything has been great. I watched the video on the Lakeland website where Wendy is cooking bacon and eggs and it looked strange just putting everything in, it is actually so simple. I love mine and so happy, why didn't I get one sooner? :)

Yes I agree totally. I am doing gorgeous buns and cakes which my £650 new horrible electric cooker with the fan over never ever did :(

What make are the silicone muffin cases from asda? Just tried to add to my asda order and only traced dummies!

Been out today and left hubbie at home with 2 ds`s, he put oven on for a small pizza! Only had the Remoska since tues, but already thinking of recuping cost by not using gas oven, hubbie spends i save or try to.

Went to the gym and spent the whole time thinking of what I could cook in it!

They are just Asda own home brand, nothing special.
  • I made bacon and eggs this morning and used a buttered ramekin dish for the egg, ideal and tasty. You can put moe than 1 egg in each ramekin if anyone wants 2 eggs. I am going to look into the silicone ones though due to the non stick lining.

I am considering getting an extra deep pan and also a shallow pan for my Remoska, then I can cook say main meal in one deep pan and then swap over whilst we are eating to cook the sweet in one of the other pans. Does anyone else do this?????

Last night I cooked a baked bacon and mushroom omelette in the pan, when I took it out I wiped the pan with kitchen paper and then put 2 stuffed cooking apples in and hey presto baked apples for sweet........I then thought hey, if I had 2 pans I could do more.........i.e bake a crumble while we were eating the first course without having to wash the pan.......

I have just done that today csarina - roast spuds and parsnips in the shallow pan, with a bread and butter pudding in the deep pan - cooked the second while we ate the first!

Hope you won't mind daft question - everyone on here sounds very experienced ! I have a big Neff fan oven and there are only 2 of us at home now. I love my oven but it must be very uneconomical. I have been lurking, looking at Remoskas for a while now, and have decided to get one before Aug 31st at the 'lower' price. But please could you tell me what size I should get just for two of us, and which of the bits and pieces you can get to go with it ? I'd only cook main courses in it as we mostly eat fruit or yog for puddings, and I very seldom bake. I would do baked spuds and cauli cheese if I can, as well as chicken and casseroles etc. I'd like to be able to do a whole roasted chicken in it as I don't like the way they fall apart in the SC. My OH is a real meat and 2 veg person and would like us to economise but not at the expense of not-such-nice food ! Help please, kind people.
