Fabulous bizzylizzy! The 10" diameter is the Grande. Well done, and welcome to the wonderful world of 'mosking' :D

I 'wanted' one on Freecycle and all I got was replies asking me what it was and then one of them also put in a 'wanted' post too.
  • I think that's why I got it, nobody else knew what it was!
I tried roast potatoes in it this evening for my first attempt and they were yummy!
My OH and DD even commented on how nice they were, all fuffy on the inside and crispy on the outside - to quote "they taste like roast potatoes should"!!
I think I'll try baked potatoes tomorrow.....
  • By the way, I got a rack with the Remoska - what is that used for?

The rack is used either to raise things nearer to the element for quicker cooking, or in the base of the pan to lift things out of any fat which may run off - pieces of meat for example, or to use it as a bain marie for cooking custards etc. You can use it either way up, depending on what you want to do.

I just have to tell people who will understand how amazing this is - I have just got a Remoska on Freecycle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(If I could find the smilies there would be a row of jumping happy men here!)

It is 10" diameter so I'm not sure what size that is. It has a recipe book and a rack with it!
I am going to start using it tomorrow, something simple first. And then I will have to start reading through this thread, that may take some time!

    Isn't Freecycle a wonderful thing?!!!!!!!!!!

Well done that's brilliant, lucky you what a nice early Christmas Present!:T
  • I have just cooked some delicious looking cheese scones in it for lunch!

How long do baked potatoes usually take?

I like quite big jacket potatoes and I tend to put them in the Moska for a good hour and a half. They are gorgeous, crispy skins but fluffy insides.

I don't rub them with oil as in the book. Just pierce them and bake them dry.

I have tried giving them a few minutes in the microwave to start them off. This does reduce the cooking time to about 1 hour BUT I don't like the result as much. I know it is a bit costly using the Moska for so long but compared to using the oven for that long !!!!!!

I have decided it is a reasonable compromise. I always felt bad using fan oven for one baked potato, but they are not the same done in the microwave.
