IS your potato too dry? When I do cottage pie, I always make sure the potato is quite sloppy and it doesn't seem to sink but I have found if it is quite dry then it does.

Sorry, I was about to say exactly the opposite! Sloppy mash and mince with lots of gravy will lead to sinking; firmer mash and less gravy will keep things in their right places.

thanks Shopndrop --how do you slide it on top of the mince ? Lol I need a video on youtube :) Maybe you have to slide it gently on...
I make sure that the mince isn't too sloppy but the potato is more sloppy then just spoon it on, bit at the sides, bit in the middle, and spread it out using a fork. I do find that it works better with the mince slightly cool but the potato hot and you can spread it more easily with the fork when hot.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. What would you serve to show the remoska in its best light?

Needless to say I will also be serving a selection of scones, muffins, flapjacks and mincepies!

I would probably serve a pasta bake (that includes lasagna), or tartiflette, or fish pie, or a HM deep pan pizza. They are all good lunch disches that cook perfectly in the Remoska, but still simple enough and you don't have to worry about them becoming overcooked or needing attention while you are chatting away.....

Morning, Moska friends... I think someone has asked this on here before but I can't find it. Has anyone tried making Cornish pasties in the Moska ? I have a nice recipe, but you have to cook them for an hour and I wondered if it would work in the Moska. I am used to the idea of having to cover things up, but sometimes it's still rather too hot (I find it too hot for a slow-cooked beef stew, even with triple layer of foil on top). Any advice would be most welcome - preferably before 6.30 this evening ! (Friday)

I made fantastic bacon/cheese sausage rolls in it last night, 30 mins , no foil needed :)

I have been trying to read through the threads about the Remoskas as I was sseriously pining for one. As I was tidying around mum's room and puting some things in the large cupboard in her room I spotted a very large bag in the cirner from lakeland :j I now think and hope hubby has bought me one for Christmas but I resisted having a peek.

Is there a separate thread somewhere with all the remoska recipies in it?

There are a number of recipes in the blue book that comes with the Remoska.
There is a book 'Remoska Cooking' with 200 recipes. (And a previously published recipe book I think).
The Lakeland Remoska website has a number of recipes on it.
    http://www.lakeland.co.uk/L?content=noticeboard/recipes/remoska.htm
The Hooray for home cooking website has recipe pages and photos of what people cook.

Might be better directing remoska recipes there to keep them all together. Not sure this is the best forum for keeping recipes together as all messages are merged. Have to trawl through every page!

Well, yes, shortlegs. But I think surely the point is that all of us who use a Remoska are staggered by the number of things you can cook so deliciously in it which means you don't need to put your big expensive oven on, so sharing new ideas and recipes helps us save lots of money !
  • Lovely easy meal tonight - picking up on a comment someone made on the thread about using foil parcels.

I did some roast veg (potato, onion, carrot, sweet potato) and then on top a foil parcel with a chicken breast wrapped in a rasher, a thinly sliced giant mushroom, juice of a lemon and a squeeze of lazy coriander from a tube. was about 35 mins in all and really delicious.

Maybe, but I don't go to the butchers for a loaf.
There's more than one place to shop.
