i am on the £15pm 600 texts and 75 mins contract ( or something along those lines) and i started my contract in july '07. I sent a letter to the office at glasgow saying I wanted to cancel my contract cos these new terms would be of detriment to me. i received a phone call from three yesterday and they tried to get me to stay but i refused so they eventually gave in, cancelled my contract and gave me my PAC
I'm now thinking of moving to Vodafone and treat myself to a samsung tocco

How long did it take between postign the letter and getting the call? I sent mine 1st registered on Saturday and haven't had the call yet. I'm on the 600/75 deal as well, signed Sept 07.

sorry if this sounds harsh i dont mean it to but this states you not bein charged per minute was a promotion, therefore if you new you had a promotion about it you new it was gona happen so i dont think you gota leg to stand on mate with otelo or anyone else sorry to be so blunt

if any is has had a phone with this as a promotion to start you wont be able to cancel as legaly you now its gona happen as they are 'as a promotion' not doin straight away with you

The thing is that had we been TOLD this charging was coming into place at the time of upgrade and that it would remain sec billing during a promotional period then we all wouldnt be here now on this thread. Our main arguement is that 3 didnt make its customers aware of the changes whether promotional or not. The fact is that they are now telling its customers that is was a promotion that had a non fixed end date until now. They have mislead customers throughout and are now trying to wiggly out by claiming it was a promotion.

The impression I get from 3 and from Consumer Advice, is that they adhered to their own T&Cs by changing the price plan on their website. In the quote I posted earlier their T&Cs explicitly state that we the consumer are responsible for monitoring these online. Its a complete con, imo, but its there in their T&Cs and its this which is allowing them to refuse us cancellation. I am fuming, but have been led to believe that there isnt much to be done.

but you can sue ( small claims court ) any company for a employee or 3rd parties contractors employed by them.....that be a 3 Store or an outsourced indian call centre, 3UK are still responsible
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

I read your post a few days ago and then it occured to me - why are you paying them the cancellation fee? The idea of this thread was to try and get out of the contract without penalty - if this could not be achieved, continue service as normal. Your options should have been cancel without penalty, or continue receiving and paying for the service until the end of your contract. Much as I appreciate that you have a cashback from Orange to join them, you see this as a winning deal that you are paying over £200 to Three for services that you will now not receive? The £200 from Orange (or similar deals) would probably be available at the end of your Three contract and you would then be £200 up, not effectively £400 down (£200 Three penalty and £200 lost Orange cashback). I obviously don't know the tone of the conversation with their call centre, but if it was that bad, it would have been worth a formal complaint to Exec office (beyond the current discussions about their changing T&Cs) and would probably have resulted in reduced price/end contract without penalty etc.

I am not being judgemental, but it surprises me how some people let large organisations get off with shoddy service and are willing to pay a premium to get out of a contract. It is an expensive stand you took here ...

My main concern getting rid of my 3 contract, i tried on a LOT of occasions to speak to CS in India, and without sounding bad I honestly couldnt understand them,

i asked to be put on a lower tariff and was told i could do that in november, when i spoke to CS before i went on my holiday i was disgusted with the way he spoke to me, and i informed him within 2 weeks i would be done with 3

maybe it is an expensive way to get out of my contract, but i tried every other option

    good riddence i say

spoke to orange today and they said there is a facility for a 'temporary disconnection' of up to 6 months, but that it's likely i'll have to be with them for 3 months before becoming eligible, so i think the worst case scenario i can see is that i pay the orange bill for 3 months, take 6 months "off" and then i'll only be 3 months away from the end of my 3 deal - albeit having to cover 2 mobile contracts again for another 3 months.

So, ultimately, my stupidity will cost me £120 if they allow me to do it.

If you're on the texter plan, I can't see how they can refuse - they claim that Mix and Match was always per minute billing, but I can't see how they can claim the same with the texter plan.

There's actually someone on Digital Spy who says he was on a Mix and Match plan that he took out in July 07 and he claims to have succesfully cancelled and got his PAC code, so i've pm'ed him for more info ..
