    My head was all over the place yesterday when posting on this thread with lots going on, dad in hospital and that is without other stuff then this lol, but just to say problem resolved - for now anyway, thanks folks, good idea though on a Scooby thread, cheers.:beer:

    The timing chain has gone on my 1 series, it's done 96000k nearly 4 years old. Reading this thread was there a recall on them, I was supposed to receive? full BMW history, do I have any recall?

    If anyone can help I would be extremely applicative, many thanks

    maybe try some of the bmw forums like bmwland which has a section for each series and technical queries. good search function on there.
    BMW customer services should also be able to tell you if there was a recall for your model?
  • i dont think there was a national recall as such, i think they did these chains to rectify the problem as and when they came in with broken ones and did it free as its a recognised problem within a certian age and mileage, many manufacturers/dealers do this not to cause panick alarms ringing over the country as it may only affect a certain batch of engines. this maybe why its not on any recall plans set out from the manufacturer and not showing on the aa sites etc.
  • Hi i am having problem with my bmw 7 series which i bought from bmw croydon 3 weeks ago and having all sorts of problems and the problem which i been told is been fixed during my last visit is still not fixed and still there and they are telling me to bring the car back and will fix it for you can any1 please advice what are my rights? and if anyone any complain department email address or phone number will be very helpful ???? as i bought the car from approved used bmw and its have 12 months warranty so please advice
