The timing chain has gone on my 1 series, it's done 96000k nearly 4 years old. Reading this thread was there a recall on them, I was supposed to receive? full BMW history, do I have any recall?
If anyone can help I would be extremely applicative, many thanks0 -
maybe try some of the bmw forums like bmwland which has a section for each series and technical queries. good search function on there.
BMW customer services should also be able to tell you if there was a recall for your model?0 -
i dont think there was a national recall as such, i think they did these chains to rectify the problem as and when they came in with broken ones and did it free as its a recognised problem within a certian age and mileage, many manufacturers/dealers do this not to cause panick alarms ringing over the country as it may only affect a certain batch of engines. this maybe why its not on any recall plans set out from the manufacturer and not showing on the aa sites etc.0
