These are my latest hangers, to go into chocolate themed baskets for Xmas pressies. I had a real problem with the paper, it was quite thin for scrapbooking paper and glue showed through the paper and was a mare to cut (ripped very easily). I love the designs and paid such a lot to get them but the quality of the paper is poor. These are the only ones I've made not using K&Co or Doodlebug paper so if you're thinking of making one, make sure your paper is thick ;)

They are for a kitchen door. The wording on the little beige tag reads "Tea and Cakes" on one side and "Time for Chocolate" on the other.

I think they are quite cute, the air was positively blue in our house last night as I was trying to make them and had loads of problems with the paper :p

rainmac - they''re really brilliant !!! You could start up a business with all the ones you''re making and they're so good.

I'm so torn between using your type of door hanger and doing one thats like a small board with string or ribbon threaded through in.........was also wondering how I could do something so the message on it was changeable -ie. Keep out/Gone to Bed/Come in..........if you know what I mean.
Can only think of a sort of pocket with little cards in it with messages on but then don't know how they'd stick ..................oh dear.......... brains all muddled now....................lol
    Mary

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Mary, that's exactly what I've done on these, made a little pocket (the brown bit on the front) and popped in a card (the beige bit) with words either side - I glued the back of one piece of card to the back of another to get the typed words on both sides :p . You could also do words at the bottom (other way up) so you could have 4 options on one card if you see what I mean??? So the beige card comes out of the pocket and can be turned over. Is that what you want to do? Does this make sense?

These ones cost quite a bit to make - a lot more than I wanted to spend to be honest, nearly everything was bought new (fell in love with the papers and fibres!). The idea of making them was to give a nice pressie but to save money. Don't think that has happened with these ones, but I do like them ;)

Your new ones are lovely! ... Mine are still sitting there looking very lumpy and bumpy. I haven't touched them, Was planning on retrying tonight but had a massive row with OH before he went out and I know if anything goes wrong with them then they will just go in the bin along with all the other crafty stuff :(

I am waiting on 2 rosette shaped hangers to arrive so may just do these instead

Damn you guys, I've gone and bought a couple of door hangers from that eBay seller - trying to do a homemade Christmas this year and know a couple of people that would like personalised door hangers!
In a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!

rainmac - really really wicked, you just can't tell you had that much trouble from those pics, well done ;)

mary - what about gluing a small notepad to it, with some messages from you and then they can write their own too, and then put a small peg round the ribbon/string at the top that they can use to peg up the sheets and show the message.........................erm if you get what I mean! :o

    Good luck Maggie :D

I'm going to make a Xmasy one for a house decoration as well - door hangers can be for any occasion! I thought too a hanger would make a good wedding pressie - a 'do not disturb' one ;)

I got into a right muddle with the cooking hangers and had a fit, muttered lots of rude words and re-did them, I wasn;t going to be beaten by a piece of MDF and some paper :rotfl:

The rosette hanger shape is lovely.

Hope you and the OH have kissed and made up. I hate rows but seem to cause most of them in our house ;)
