trisha - thanks for those links. I was thinking on the lines of handbags done in fabric or something like that, that I could stick on some shaker pegs .Don;t want peel-offs or straight stick-ons, something that stands out.
Theres some on the artymiss site .........K& Co Sparkly Sweet Collection and K & Co Grand Adhesions Purses that look quite nice.........not too 'girly' but modern if you know what I mean. Grandaughters a bit on the 'trendy' side.

rainmac - is sticky back plastic easy to use or am I likely to make a complete hash of it and be better off with a coat of matt varnish ?

Only you can answer that question Mary :p , personally, I'm going to steer well clear of the sticky stuff as I am likely to completely ruin what I've done  . Varnish is a good idea I think. I'm going to leave mine 'au naturele' as I'm happy with how they look :D

trisha - thanks for the fairy paper link.............My friend will be well pleased with that I think.

rainmac - ooops...........sorry, thought you were going to have a go with it as your kitchen hanger is getting a bit of 'wear and tear'.............lol
I'll see how savvy gets on with it...............somehow I don't think my chances of success would be very good.
Still, shoe box has turned out well and twiglet tube that I thought looked c**p looks ok now its dried out................lol
Tomorrow I'm ordering yet more hangers and some shaker pegs to do.............getting a little bit more confident.........just a little...........:j

Mary, you should feel really proud of what you're making :D

I'm going to wait and see how savvy gets on with the old sticky stuff too :p

Someone's metioned to me about painting MDF shapes with blackboard paint to make mini memo boards, I think this is a fab idea and am thinking of giving it a go, has anyone any experience of using blackboard paint??? Other than ebay I wouldn't know where to buy it?

Think you can get blackboard paint from B&Q or focus...

My door hangers arrived today but have been very busy jazzing up a little set of wooden drawers my dads gf gave me yesterday... Really pleased with the effect too... Might try something similar on the door hangers...

Would covering them in pva glue have the same effect as varnishing them?

Well, about to order more door hangers............ (is this wise I ask myself...........lol)
Thought I'd order them from woodworks craft supplies -they do Shaker pegs as well and I want some of those but can't get to grips with the measurements..............they do a screw in one that's 22mm, 73mm or 19mm............ what't that in inches ? My tape measure shows cm's.......... Compared with the door hangers - 235mm looks like these pegs will be teeny weeny ones.....................grandaughter couldn't hang a bag on one of those............:wall: oh dear.................as if life wasn't complicated enough...................lol

LOL look at me being the guinea pig here!! :rotfl::rotfl: It's turned out great and I'm far happier about it now, none of the little bits that I've stuck on will peel off :j My nephews are quite boisterous at times so I didn't think they'd last long with them :rotfl::rotfl:

Mary there are 10 mm's in a cm. 2.5 cm in an inch.

    So:
22mm is 2.2cm and is minimally short of 1 inch
73mm is 7.3cm and is minimally short of 3 inch
19mm is 1.9cm and is about 3/4 of an inch.

your door hanger at 235mm is 23.5cm and is just under 9 1/2 inch.

    Hth somewhat.
