But the foam must adjust itself when you turn over in bed, or it couldn't continue to give the proper support, so why can it not adjust when you switch off an electric blanket and get into bed i.e. when the parts not in contact with the body cool down again?

Because you would have made all the memory foam soft, so it will just flatten when you get into bed, rather than moulding to your body as it warms up.

Memory foam mattresses have a warmer feel when you get into bed anyway, so you shouldn't need an electric blanket. Mine never feels as cold as my old mattress when I get into it.

Tim supplies Restus mattresses so im sure he will know whether this one is turn or non-turn, and what quality it would be. Utter nonsense what the saleman said about being no such thing  why say that? It gives all bed salesmen a bad reputation...

Yes it is a non turn mattress.

So, are you saying that, without the use of an electric blanket, the bits that are first flattened as you lie in bed stay flat when you turn over because they have been warmed, and then more is flattened? It would not then be moulded to your body.

I'm not quite sure what you are on about. However you must NOT use electric blankets with memory foam.

Not quite. The warmth of your body shapes the foam around you. If you use an electric blanket the warmth will be all over the foam and it will all be warm so none will stay firm, thus not supporting your body...

  • Thank you for your response. The Harrison has a warm and cold side which is meant to be turned in the summer and winter.

Apart from turning which I know is important, has anyone got experience for either brand or bed?

Firstly, you are supposed to turn the mattress every 2weeks or so, so unless you want to be cold every two weeks it's a bit impractical ;)

My parents have had issue with a Harrison mattress they bought. It basically folded internally and formed a ridge between them, but they did (after a few phonecalls and getting an independant inspector in) get a free replacement. They have since bought another after becoming disillusioned with Harrison, but I have also heard good things, so you may get a good one?!

    HTH :)

Darn  am finding it very hard to find a turnable mattress!!! especially living in NI as no-one will ship here. There is an ebay site that will ship me a La Romantica but the delivery is £70, and I don't really want to buy a mattress that I haven't tried. Does anyone know which other brands sell turnable mattress with foam both sides? Can't find anyone selling Kozeesleep either.
