:T Thanks for the info and quick reply.... Most mattresses I've seen seem to only have 1 sided memory foam. I'll try and search further.... whats the general recommended thickness of mattress (without memory foam topper)?

    Ta muchly

For a good quality mattress you want to be looking at around 10" deep minimum.

I have been reading the relevant threads and have kind of established what I should look for in a new mattress.

Can someone pls advise on whether this is a good buy. I am looking for a pocket sprung king size mattress, budget is really £300 max. However, trying to find one with a layer of memory foam for that price has been really hard. Best I can find is:

    http://www.memflex.co.uk/memflex-product/02POC1000MAT/Pocket-1000-.html?variant_id=002&size_id=KINGSI

I can get 10% quidco so it would be about £314 with next day delivery which is also quite important.

I know that perhaps one with a double sided layer of memory foam would be better but that is above my budget. If there are any others suited to my budget and requirements pls let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help. Need to order asap!

The reason the price is so low on this mattress is because it is the encapsulated type. The springs aren't proper pocket springs, but are much smaller, and are encapsulated in reflex foam, so air still can't circulate properly to take away the heat from the memory foam.

For your budget you might be better off going for open coil sprung with memory foam.

    Hi Tim,
Wondering if you can give your thoughts on Kozeesleep brand, and the which of the following would be better:
    http://www.bedstar.co.uk/shop/catalog/Kozeesleep_Regency_4FT_6_Mattress-p-24040.html
    http://www.bedstar.co.uk/shop/catalog/Kozeesleep_Viscount_4FT_6_Mattress-p-24215.html

And what's the difference between Italian & Belguim damask:confused:
    thanks!

As you will have seen, Tim can't comment on Kozeesleep because he sells them.

I've been looking around at beds for weeks and Kozeesleep seem to be good from what I have read. The fact that Tim sells them is in itself a recommendation I think.

You get what you pay for probably, but look at the online sellers and eBay before you buy. Once you have decided which bed you want (eg Kozeesleep) there are some real bargains. eBay is hit and miss - the one you want may not be on here, but if you can wait it might be.

One advantage of Dreams is they take your old bed away, for a charge. But some sellers won't take your old bed away at all.

Has anyone got any advice on the best way to get an old bed taken away? And on the same day the new one is delivered? Haven't got room for 2 beds and don't want to sleep on the floor.

I'd just like to add that I don't sell Kozee Sleep as shown in the links. This is a different company to Kozeesleep. They used to be the same company until a fall out, then they split From my expereince the better products are made by Kozeesleep who use this logo:

The other company now uses this logo:
    kozilogo.jpg
However even though Kozeesleep were the original company, you can now find mattresses with the same name for sale from both companies. However the spec isn't the same.

I presume that dreams use a different vehicle for collecting the old beds, as they shouldn't be using the same vehicle to transport old soft furnishings as the new ones. This is due to possible infestation.

You wouldn't be too happy if they turned up to deliver you brand new expensive bed, and right next to it was an old stained, flea bitten, rotton, smelly mattress would you?

Some councils will take your old bed away free of charge. Some only do it free for pensioners. Most do charge, but you can usually arrange a day for collection.

If your old bed is in good condition, then you can advertise it on freecycle.

Even if you do have to pay for disposal, it can still work out far cheaper on line than buying it from Dreams.

I will be taking mine to the local tip, as fortunately we have an estate car and it will fit...but would love to ceremonially burn it along with the Silentnight warrenty that is as useful as the springs in the bed!
