Hi I seem to have spent ages looking at beds, came on here to see if anyone could help and now I'm more confused.
The divan I was thinking of buying was from Dreams and I was told the Eden is a Harrison bed but made to Dreams specifications.(the best price I've been given for a super king with 4 draws is £1849.
I've looked on the Harrison website and the equivilant I think is the Harrison Diamond Divan with 3808 pocket springs ( I believe there are also 1000 in the base), but reading on here it looks like too many springs isn't good ( I always thought the more springs the better and the prices seem to bear that out). The problem is other sites give this price as £3000 so either I am getting a good deal  or it's not this one
The mattress is a 'no need to turn' although it does have a warm winter covering on one side and a summer covering on the other. The problem is if I should turn a mattress every month then this one is only going to be turned every 6 months.
I need your help Tim, or anyone else who can advise, is this a good bed? do I need to spend this much? I want something that is going to last and be comfortable. Many ThanksLook after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -

This has been a prime example of how many big chain stores operate. If you had listened to the reps then you could have spent a fortune on a mattress that wasn't worth anywhere near as much as you paid, and won't last very long.
P.S. even some well known up market companies will do what is required to make huge profits.0 -
Tim, thanks for the imput. I understand you can't recommend one make/bed over another on here.
But, can you tell me if when it comes to beds whether you get what you pay for or are you just paying for the name. I've been told that Vspring, Harrisons and (can't remenber the 3rd are handmade and therefore should be a better quality.
I believe most mattress are sold on the spring count in a king size and in my experience it seem the higher the spring count the more expensive, although I have read it's not how many springs but how they are made that's important.
I know vspring are expensive but are they worth the extra cost. I could get an entry level one for the same price as the Dreams Eden, it's really difficult to get information on the different beds and make a judgment call . Are we allowed to ask your company name/ website?Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -

In many cases yes you are paying for the name.
Most mattresses are actually hand made, it's just that some boast about it more than others.
Yes they do charge more for more springs. However it doesn't mean that it is a better mattress, it just means that there is more work in making more springs, so the spring manufacturers charge more. Spring numbers are yet another sales gimmick so that the sales rep can get you to pay more for more springs.
You need to remember that iven if a mattress is made by an expensive brand, an entry level is still an entry level, and is probably no better than many other brands entry levels.0 -
Hi Tim,
Wondering if you can give your thoughts on Kozeesleep brand, and the which of the following would be better:
http://www.bedstar.co.uk/shop/catalog/Kozeesleep_Regency_4FT_6_Mattress-p-24040.html
http://www.bedstar.co.uk/shop/catalog/Kozeesleep_Viscount_4FT_6_Mattress-p-24215.html
And what's the difference between Italian & Belguim damask

Hi - I've been reading these bed threads as I'm trying to find a suitable mattress for my bedstead and I also have popped into Dreams and been given the hard sell..
I have slip discs in my back and found the memory topped firm mattresses lovely. I understand from what you've mentioned previously that turning your mattress is the best thing and that you can't do this with with mattresses like the Blegravia at Dreams etc.. Can I get round this by purchasing a separate top that you affix like a mattress protector and then can take off when you rotate the mattress??
Have I got it right that pocket sprung is best? If so how many would be best for a standard double and do the number of springs change firmness??
Sorry for the questions....just wanna check that I'm getting the right info from this wonderful site!! xx0 -

Not that I know of, but you would probably be better off just buying a 2 sided mattress with memory foam on both sides.Have I got it right that pocket sprung is best? If so how many would be best for a standard double and do the number of springs change firmness??
Most manufacturers give the number of springs in a king size mattress, not a double. So for example if a mattress states that it has 1000 springs, then that is only for the king size version. For a double it would be less, and for super king size it would be more.
The best range for a king size mattress is between 1000 and 1800 springs.
It depends on the manufacturer of the springs as to how firm the mattress is. One manufacturer may have 1000 as medium and 1500 as firm, but another manufacturer may do it the other way around.0 -
:T Thanks for the info and quick reply.... Most mattresses I've seen seem to only have 1 sided memory foam. I'll try and search further.... whats the general recommended thickness of mattress (without memory foam topper)?
Ta muchly
