Hello? Some of us are trying to get Money Saving advice here. We don't come on this thread to read through pages of bickering.
Tim Deegan: I think you need to take a step back here. You have to respect that other people have views which differ from your's. You need to concede that you're not the world's leading expert on mattresses. Yes, you do give a lot of good advice on here and I think it's very much appreciated by a lot of people. But your views are based on informed opinion, no doubt gained through a lot of experience, but this comes quite low down on grades of evidence and certainly does not consitute fact. I do find that you are too quick to put down other people's opinions without considering whether they are as valid as your own, you also seem to have a problem if people don't take your advice, almost to the point of rudeness. This thread is "Which mattress?" it isn't "Tim Deegan's mattress advice", not every question is directed at you and other people are perfectly within their rights to offer advice as well as you.
Those others who constantly attack Tim's posts: you're not helping anyone on here with your confrontational attitudes. It's frankly pathetic to keep switching usernames to pop up and pick through everything Tim says. Please restrict your comments to advice and comment on specific questions instead of giving your general opinion on what type of mattress is best or slagging off Tim for reasons which are largely irrelevant to this thread.
Finally can I suggest that people agree to disagree and more importantly ignore eachother instead of desending into pointless and lengthy rows. I'm trying to get help here with buying a mattress not listen in to a clash of egos - I will start to report every post which doesn't directly offer advice to people's questions if this carries on.0 -

Lunderow,
I think your assessment is fair, and I had no intention of de-railing this thread, as you have correctly pointed out that it's purpose is to provide 'money saving advice'.
As you can doubt tell, I have however taken exception to the utter nonsense spewed out on this thread as 'FACT' - by someone who has neither the right nor credentials to do so.
This has gone on for too long 'unchecked', which has clearly given Tim the confidence to start believing his own hype and opinion. Unfortunately it appears it's now also given himself 'enough rope' for the proverbial...
If he sticks to giving his OPINION to those that request it then that's fine by me. And as a result, you won't hear any further from me...
I will however keep monitoring this site and WILL jump in again if he continues with his unfounded rubbish, as otherwise PEOPLE ARE BEING CONNED...
I'm sure we all agree this is certainly not in the spirit of this website.0 -
Okay - I really have to purchase a mattress soon as the sprung slat frame arrives next week.
Today in Mattressman I was recommended either :
MF25 Climasmart mattress by DELUXE beds ltd Huddersfield -thats a 1000 pocket spring under 1 inch of v60 memory foam topped with cool feel climasmart cover double - priced £399 plus delivery
or the plusher MF 50 Climasmart mattress by Deluxe Beds Ltd which has a stronger 1000 pocket spring and the memory pillowtop is a thicker layer of two inches of V60 memory foam.at £499.95.
Does Tim or anyone consider this suitable and priced reasonably ?
Many thanks again for anyones input
I have to make a decison soon0 -
Would that be because your company only sells mattresses from small/independent companies Tim? Surely you cant be saying that all big brands are 'rubbish' compared to the small manufacturers that you stock? I appreciate as a bed seller you might not want to recommend any big companies as you would lose business, but you cant surely "not rate any of the big brands"?
Give it a rest. As you well know I can sell what I want, and I choose not to sell big names because I don't rate them.0 -

Toys out of your pram! Thanks for not answering the question!
What you mean is I don't stock big brands as I make more money on independent brands and therefore recommend people buy them! You can NOT say that you do not rate a single big brand in the whole bed market! You can say you don't wish to tell people which big brands you rate but you can not say that only independent manufacturers that you sell are the only good mattresses! :rotfl:0 -
Tim do you have an opinion of the mattresses I mention above ?
Please ignore these spoilers and do what you do best - help out the bewildered like myself
Many thanks0 -

I come on here to expose the truth behind all the sales gimmicks and hype in the bed industry, which it is full of (no doubt like many industies). I hate to see people conned into paying more for something that is just a gimmick, and doesn't benefit them.
I repect the fact that we all have our own opinions, but dz1 has been stalking me, and following me around all the threads I post in with the single aim of discrediting me. The advice I give is based on facts that I have gained over years of experience, as well as common sense based on my inside knowledge of the bed industry. As for Burton999, they only joined the forums to discredit me, and not to give anyone helpful advice.0 -

I have to make a decison soon
I'm having trouble finding the version with 2" of memory foam, but the details for the 1" version contradicts itself:"The DeLuxe Beds ClimaSmart 1000 pocket spring divan set is available in single, three-quarter, double and king sizes. The Climasmart mattress is No-Turn 1000 pocket spring unit with a memory foam top and upholstered with the latest technologically advanced adaptive comfort cover to keep your body from overheating.I presume this is an error, but it would be worth contacting then to clarify the spec. Also it would be worth asking if it contains reflex foam encapsulated pocket springs, or full size.
The mattress comprises of an open coil Bonnel spring unit, 25mm memory foam layer and a Hypo-Allergenic cover and fillings to produce a 'soft' and comfortable feel to the deep quilted mattress. The mattress is supported by a platform top base which is available with a full range storage drawer options. "
As you may know I have allways said that 1" of memory foam isn't enough to contour to your body, so the 2" version would be far better.
Climasmart is similar to Outlast, which is designed to keep you cooler.
If it does contain full size pocket springs, then it seems OK, apart from being a little expensive at nearly £500 for a non turn mattress. So it might be worth shopping around to see if you can find it cheaper.0 -
Can I say I take exception to someone calling me anyones 'stooge'.
I have only recently logged in here and to find such rude assumption making, beggars belief.I would like an apology please.
Tim I made no decision in the shop - I have looked for these mattressess online too to compare prices and saw the description of coil spring rather than pocket spring - I only knew that seemed odd because you have taken pains to explain all the different terminology to us newbies. Nor can I find these mattresses on Deluxe beds own web site. It is so frustrating.
I had gone to the showroom this afternnon with a view to purchasing a Millbrook Romantic pocket spring as it was recommended here. But Mattressman sell only a Millbrook Traviata or I think Tosca. They were similarly priced I think 349 and 449- but no memory foam. But handmade and 2000 pocket springs I think the salesman said. Do you have an opinion of those ?
Kind regards0 -

Climasmart is a very new product in the UK, so that would explain why it wouldn't be on the Deluxe Beds web site. Personally I would wait until monday then phone them, rather than going for a big brand.
