Do you think this is a good mattress or there any cheaper with the same quality thanks.

Relyon - "Luxury Memory Pocket Platinum 1475" £399.

    For what size?

Relyon aren't as good as they used to be, but they are still better than many of the big brands.

The mattress is non turn, and the density of the memory foam is a little low at 55kg. It is possible that it contains reflex foam encapsulated pocket springs. So this would be worth checking. If they are full size steel pocket springs, then the price isn't too bad for a relyon.

It's not the slower recovery rate that makes it more supportive, it's the higher density, which we have alresdy covered several times. However to be able to move about in bed the density has to be a compromise.

By the way that link is NOT independent.

How do you know the link is not independent?

I've had my kingsize Ergoflex mattress for a couple of weeks now and am really pleased with it. It took me a few days to get used to it (its weird having a bed without springs in it) and was seriously considering sending it back but now I really like it.

I got mine for £399 in the sale which I think is a fair price, I wouldn't pay £799 for it but then I wouldn't pay that for any mattress.

Hmmm, I've just checked and the "sale" appears to be starting again on Monday...what's the betting they have a half price sale for 90% of the year!! Never the less I am pleased with my mattress.

Rest Assured are the same company as Silentnight......need I say any more?

As for Kozeesleep, it depends on which one as there are 2.

Simmons is owned by the French Cauval Industries Group, and is the parent company to Sleepeezee, Simmons, Nestledown, and Cumfilux. As you may know by now I don't rate any of the big multinational groups, as most of them have automated production and cut quality in order to cut production costs.

I posted some time ago about buying a new bed and with mattress queries. I've been following the thread since, still haven't made my mind up what I'm doing but thought I'd mention some findings...

Someone suggested getting a custom size as I thought a superking might be too big but fancied larger than a king size. I thought this was a genius idea & it turns out not to be as expensive as I thought. Couldn't find that many places who specfically say they do custom sizes but seems if you pick a make then contact some of their retailers they'll probably agree to order one for you. The cheapest place I found was mynextmattress co uk, for a 5'6" they were asking the same as most places charge for a king size, anyone got any experience of them?

For bed frames, I think oddsizebeds co uk were the cheapest & for getting bed & mattress from the same place aaabedz co uk looked quite good. I'm not recommending these sites over other places just saying they're the cheapest I could find. I'm interested to hear if people have any comments about them.

I have to say that identifying independent manufacturers & those that sell their mattresses isn't that easy. If you do find them it's hard to know if they're any good & whilst it's easier online then you can't have a look before buying. Is there a trade association that could supply a list? I looked on the National Bed Federation's website, they have a list that you can search by mattress type which looks useful. Anyone know how reliable this Federation is? I'm not convinced that all manufacturers are included on their list.

I think it would be really useful to have a list of all the makes that indicates who is independent & to which people can add comments on their experiences or what they've heard. Not sure how this would work though or if such a list would be too long?!

I too would like to know a list of independant companies, surely that can be allowed on this site.

I've just found something I'd not heard of before; a number of mattress manufacturers in Scotland that were set up to provide employment for people with disabilities. So far I've found Blind Craft which is run by Edinburgh Health & Social Care Dept, Highland Blindcraft and Glencraft in Aberdeen. Anyone know anything about these makes or if there's anything similar in England?
