Hi Tim
Will the open coil sprung with memory foam be as comfortable and as long lasting as the pocket sprung with memory foam.0 -
If well made, longevity should be similar, but comfort will be better on the pocket sprung version and there will be no roll together:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0

Hi Tim

You will struggle to find a two sided open coil sprung/memory foam mattress. However this isn't as important with open coil sprung because the springs are far tougher than pocket springs.
Pocket sprung/memory foam will be more comfortable, but for a good quality two sided one they are outside your price range.0 -

Thanks Tim, when I said my budget is £300-400, I meant it per mattress. Not for both.
Also if the gaps between the sprung slats are more than 3" would the pocket sprung memory foam both sides be suitable.0 -

No. The only mattress suitable for gaps of more than 3" would be open coil sprung. However you can use a sheet of peg board over the slats to spread the wieght out.0 -

It is quite common for beds with standard slats to be 3" or more apart. However sprung slats are usually closer.0 -
Hi All
This is the first time i have ever read every page on a thread this long, it only took me 2 days!
After taking 18 months to wear out an airsprung mattress from Argos we are ready for a new bed. We have been to Dreams and Furniture Village (can't believe how much they charge!) to see what beds we like the feel of and prefer pocket sprung with memory foam (don't like the coil sprung beds). We need a King size bed and only want to spend up to £450, here are a few i have seen:
Relyon Monet (£399)
http://www.nationalbedcentre.co.uk/baseproduct.asp?id=759
Relyon 1000 pocket sprung memory (no model) £449
http://www.nationalbedcentre.co.uk/baseproduct.asp?id=688
Not sure about the above website, doesnt have much detail and has few spelling mistakes!
Millbrook Serenity, i think its medium tension (£409.99)
http://www.bedstar.co.uk/shop/catalog/Millbrook_Serenity_5FT_Mattress-p-27905.html
Any thoughts? I know they are non turnable but they are hard to find with memory foam on both sides, besides the La Romantica Madrid which i can find at £464.99 but as I can only find it in 2 shops and havent heard of it before i aint sure about quality etc. Would appreciate thoughts of anyone who has one as to what they think.
The one we tried in Dreams was the Rest Assured Madeira, its says Firm (2 out of 5, 1 being the firmest) in their scale would this equate to a medium firm for other mattresses? That is the worry of buying online that you cant try it first, i know you can send them back but is always going to be a pain.
I usually enjoy spending my well earned money but buying a mattress is a nightmare and full of mis-selling. Going to a local bed retailer tomorrow to try a few more out and get a feel for firmness and cost.

The third one looks like the best buy of the three. However none of them give much information. Ask them the following:- The depth of the memory foam (optimum is 2")
- The density of the memory foam (optimum is 60 to 70kg per m3).
