    Thanks for your help;)

BTW, have I made the right choice or bought a lemon:confused:

  • I was needing a new matress as it is 3 years old and the spring are starting to pop out but i couldn't afford one, so i decided i would invest in a memory foam matress topper and it was honestly one of the best things i've ever done, it feels like a completly new matress.
The best bit about it was i picked it up in Blackpool for £33 for a double in one of these in-door markets :j
    buzzzzz:D:money:

That's the third recommendation you've made about Dreams, are you an employee by any chance?! Ive not heard another good work said about them, and have had poor customer service and advice from them personally

Just bought a Harrison ruby SKS divan, very happy with it:T
I have heard very good things about Harrison, good quality and well made...but, my parents bought one a couple of years ago and had it collapse internally recently. Harrison refused to exchange it under full warrenty wanting £400+ for a replacement, but my parents had an independant bed doctor come out and confirm it was a manufacture issue so Harrison reluctantly replaced it FOC. They got good service in the end, but had to fight for it, and shouldn't have had to in the first place. Hopefully you will not have the same issues, as I have heard plenty of other good reports on Harrisons lasting years :)

All the others, sorry, but I cant check the links during work due to the web-filter we use. If you can post the spec I may be able to advise, otherwise hopefully Tim will reappear like the shopkeeper in Mr Ben!

At £33 the topper is most likely to be very low density memory foam, which will actually be more like reflex foam, but it will still help with an uncomfortable mattress.

Please replace the mattress as soon as you can afford. Otherwise you could end up with serious back ache due to the broken springs making your back curve.

The springs shouldn't be popping out of your mattress after only 3 years. What make and model is it?

with regards to beds, i need a new one and I have seen a cumfilux one on http://www.123furniture.co.uk, does anyone know if they are any good please? Not used them before and they have some BAD reviews online

    The link doesn't work

I haven't heard much about them, but I think you have answered your own question if you say they have bad reviews.
  • I would love some advice about what type of mattress I need to be looking at. We have an antique brass bed which we wouldn't part with for the world, but the mattress sits on metal mesh, so when you lay/sit on the bed it REALLY dips. I was thinking of perhaps boarding over the mesh and getting a new mattress, or is there some super duper mattress that would combat this? We have tightened the bolts to tighten the mesh, but it 'gives' again not too long afterwards. I'm sure this isn't helping my back, although Gary doesn't have a problem. All thoughts or ideas greatly appreciated. x

I've slept on a bed like that before. You have to cling onto the side of the mattress to stop you from rolling to the middle.

I'm afraid there aren't any mattresses that would stay flat on a base that dips for long periods of time. So your best bet is tighten the springs again, then board over the mesh. Use quite thick ply, otherwise it will just start to bow in the middle like the mesh did.

Isn't there any way you could remove the headboard and footboard, then attach them to the ends of a new divan base?
