Unplanned Pregnancy - Advice needed

Hi JIf you go back to the doctors tell her you want a scan. I had one at 6.5 weeks as had previous ectopic. It's worth asking (say you're worried) and they should refer you.
Good luck with everything and if you get ANY pain or bleeding or if your shoulder blades hurt (weird I know) then go to the doctors straight away. I'm sure you'll be fine but it can't hurt to check.

In the past with my pregnancies I've had lots of early scans due to bleeding and there's an EPAC clinic at my local hospital so I'm thinking of giving them a call to see if they consider it worth scanning just to check the position of the foetus - was a bit surprised my GP didn't suggest it tbh x0 -
Carmina_Piranha wrote: »this is very rude of me, but are you overweight? i was told that the mini pill, depo jab etc. don't work very well in women who weigh over 11 stone. if you definitely don't want any more then another method of contraception might suit you better.
LOL! I've never weighed 11 stone even at 9 months pregnant - current weight is 7st 8lb so think that blows the theory - I had heard that too though.
My GP asked if I suffered with loose bowel movements or sickness but I couldn't think of anything which could have caused the pill to fail.
I was 2 hours late taking it but she said you could be up to 8 hours late before effectiveness was reduced.
She concluded that I was in the 2% it hadn't worked for but it does seem weird to me - previously I had been on the combined pill for years and years only breaking to have my children and never had any probs.
Whatever happens will not be relying on the pill ever again! x0 -
Feeling a bit more positive now kids are back from school, and after a chat with a mate on the way to and from school. She pointed out that she knows I love being a mum, and that we had already decided I would be a stay at home mum for the next couple of years anyway.
Other positives mmmm
1)We already have a 7 seater car lol
2)Hubbies second self employed work seems to be taking off
3)ikea make £99 bunk beds :rotfl:
4)Just won £3k from ITV :T
5)I love babies
hope you are feelling more positive too, good luck

Haha love it! Congrats on the £3k win!! And good luck and take care!!

it's not weight then. i don't know, i've never been on the mini pill because i'm too forgetful to take it
it will probably take another week for you both to know how you really feel about things. it is a huge shock and pretty scary if the circumstances aren't ideal *HUGS*'bad mothers club' member 13

Yes we're going to give it a bit more time (guess its good we found out early in that respect)
Spoke to my sister last night (she has 4 kids) and she helped me see some more positives.
Thanks for all your support everyone - will keep you posted x0 -

Glad you are taking time to think about things - remember that whatever you decide to do it will be right for you, and there is a lot of support on these boards and elsewhere.
I just thought I would add another perspective. My DH and I decided we wanted to start trying for a family and dicsussed is thoroughly beforehand. It had taken both sets of parents a long time to conceive so we thought the sooner we started trying the better, as it would probably take a couple of years at least - well, we fell pg immediately!
It was a HUGE shock for both of us, even though it was planned and has taken me about 3 months to get my head round it, and I know it won't hit DH until baby arrives! Did you have any shock when you found out your were pf with your other children? I think sometimes all teh shock gets attributed to the unplanned part of pg - but actual pg can be blamed for the shock as well. Afterall hormones don't help you think rationally sometimes!!!
Good luck and I wish you all the best x
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this responser.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!

Thanks r mac for your support and glad you've got used to it all now x
I think for me the shock is because I was taking the pill and the pregnancy was unplanned and I'm not in the ideal situ at the moment.
Like you I concieved first cycle when I first decided the time was right and was happy to have concieved so quickly - sadly I miscarried at 12 weeks but was lucky enough to fall again straight away for my son and was over the moon, I concieved my daughter when my son was 8 months old and was again happy to be pregnant so I think for me anyway it's the shock of the unexpected this time.
I guess we are all different - good luck with your baby - take care x0 -
I fell pregnant many years ago whilst on the pill - I didn't know about it until I miscarried (came as somewhat of a shock!!!) and went to see the doctor. She swiftly changed my pill to another one but like you there was no reason the pill shouldn't have worked - that was the first time I heard the "2% it doesn't work for" spiel...
Sadly my OH at the time thought I'd done it on purpose and I think it was just about the final straw for us.
At least it sounds like your OH is a bit more responsible about it all.
Good luck whatever you decide between you.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I'm glad that you're taking your time to make up your mind about this. I can't help feeling that babies are the most wonderful gifts, that you can never really plan how your life unfolds, and that humans are great at adapting to changed circumstances. But I've never been in your situation so maybe I'm really naive and wildy over-optimistic!
The best of luck whatever you choose.

My gut feeling is telling me to go ahead with the pregnancy - maybe because I have 2 beautiful children already? don't know why but that's my gut feeling but I know I can't do it on my own (and I would not want to) so guess ultimately it's down to OH - we are having a few days apart this weekend due to family circumstances so hopefully we should get a bit more time to think x
Thanks for your good wishes x0
