I got confused by the apparent discrepancy between the page I quote (sorry, no link for being a newbie) and the one you mention. The fact that there are 2 cards would explain it, but, which one is the right one and how can I get it?
cheers!0 -

How to Apply
To apply for a Cash Card Account please ask your branch for an application pack.
<Edit> Since posting this, Nationwide have moved the goalposts, as far as their Cashcards and foreign ATM transactions are concerned - see details at http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_account/card-changes2.htm0 -
ive got a flex account purely for the purpose of getting money out of atm abroad, and i got a letter today saying my nationwide cashcard (cirrus) was going to be changed to a cash card+ and it also states in the letter that the cash card+ cannot be used to get money out of an atm abroad.

I too have received the dreaded NW letter. What a disaster! I go away next month on a round the world trip (lasting a year). I was going to use my NW cash card, but now I'm stumped. NW won't allow me to upgrade my card to the visa debit, so I need to find an alternative. Not keen on pre-paid cards. Can anyone recommend another bank card?0

Hello,
I have just obtained a Nationwide cash card to use whilst backpacking but they have told me that the 0% fee on cash withdrawals is being cancelled. I could have used a Nationwide flex account debit card except I needed the account to be open for at least 7 months and with my salary going in, I am leaving in 6 weeks!!!
I have a Santander Zero card but was only hoping to use this in emergencies or at the end of my trip. Otherwise that leaves my current Lloyds TSB debit card which charges me the earth for withdrawals and payments.
Has anyone got any recommendations of how to get out cash cheaply when in Asia and Oz and USA? I have looked at pre-paid cards but I'm not sure they are cheaper as I cannot have one in the right currency for each country I am going to I don't think.

There are a few online currency exchanges do it
http://www.iceplc.com/
Should add remember paying by CC for currency is the equivalent of a cash advance and you are charged interest instantly and daily untill payed off.0 -

Where does it say that? In http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_account/foreigntransactions.htm they say NW does not charge a fee but they do pass on the 1% from Visa.
The easiest way to get a current account is to start a NW esaver which needs a current account to pay money in/out of it. So first off say I want to take a out an eSaver then that will give you a current account with an ATM card (no cheque book I think).0 -

This particular card is a cash card, not a debit card. And from other posts they appear to be witdrawing the overseas ATM facility from cash cards.
Sounds like Nationwide are trying to make debit cards hard to get0
