  • Hi, I have just purchased the gloabal traveler card from Caxton

I initially set it up in sterling. so the first £10 is in sterling.

I am travelling in europe for the first 20 days or so then go through Russia, Mongoilia, China and Japan.

My question is should I load with Euros before I go? will this prevent further conversions to different currencys and incur less cost? or should i just leave it as Sterling

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Kind regards
    Martin
  • Has anyone used this card ( moneycorpcard - explorer card)

I am looking to get a card that doesnt charge for ATM withdrawals and a multi currency card.

Is it any good (compared to Caxton etc) and what is the customer like?

I also have a Halifax Clarity Credit Card however that charges for ATM withdrawals ...

    Looking for reviews.

    thanks

    Since when?
“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”
  • whilst there is no fee for withdrawing, I understand that they will charge interest from the date that the withdrawal is made.

So why did you say they charge for using ATMs? Rather misleading to others who may be reading this and contemplating applying for one.

And yes, they do charge interest from the date of transaction, as does the Lloyds Advance card, but they both attract a substantially lower interest rate of just 11%-12% APR.

OK - so I got that wrong, what I was trying to get across was that there is a cost (interest) to withdrawing from ATMs all be no direct fee.

So are there any other cash cards that are totally free to use (ATM withdrawals and purchases) when travelling to Australia/ New Zealand ?

But it's only going to be pennies!! If you pay your statement in full you'll pay less than 1% in interest e.g. withdraw £1000 and interest for that month will be less than £10. You can make as many ATM withdrawals as you like, subject to your credit limit. Some people pre-load the card to avoid paying any interest at all.
