Since this has been often mentioned on the forum, I decided to take a look for myself.
Pre-loading the card is not against the T&C. What is against the T&C is to attempt to increase your credit limit by using another credit or charge card account to transfer funds that would leave a credit on your account.
In other words it is perfectly acceptable to transfer funds from your bank account.
Clarity Credit Card T&C
So now you know.
Also, there have been reports from people who have had their cards stopped, and this was the reason they were given.

Pre-loading the card is not against the T&C. What is against the T&C is to attempt to increase your credit limit by using another credit or charge card account to transfer funds that would leave a credit on your account.

Clarity Credit Card T&C
So now you know.
It says "You must not make payments or transfer funds from another credit or store card to your account that would leave a credit balance on your account."
So you can't make payments that leave a credit balance on your account.0 -

It is the case. Agreed, now that I have re-read it. Put the emphasis on the credit and store card.0

I converted my Halifax credit card to a Clarity one before my holidays thanks to MSE.
Used it in Auchan and was given the option of paying in Euros (138 euro) or sterling (£128 was offered) so I remembered the MSE advice and chose Euros. Now my statement has come through and I've actually paid £116.
Thank You MSE :T0 -
Lucky you, I was told the machine had made the decision for me.
Perhaps my subsequent advice to block the checkout at Auchan, by apologising to the queue while elaborately counting out the individual Euro notes and coins, has born fruit.
Anyone else able to confirm this is now the correct policy at Auchan hypermarkets.0 -
I'm sorry to be stupid.... Is it better to put money onto clarity card and then withdraw abroad using that?0
