Wrong forum. They are not tickets, but boarding passes and the advertisements are fine left as they are.

hi, i am planning to go to tunisia in august and rather than carry cash i am thinking of getting either the caxton fx or a post office pre paid card. what i need to know is what would be the best currency to load the cards, euros, dollars or sterling(postoffice).
If you get any of the cards you mentioned you will be charged a conversion fee of 2.75% for all transactions.Go for the travelex globe card or similar and save yourselves a few quid.

Travelex Globe charges 2.49%. Or similar??
  • I will be travelling to India for 2 months, which is the best card to use. I will need to withdraw cash at regular intervals. I usually take TC but thought maybe there is a good card out there I could use instead. Thanks for any help.

While some people do seem to be able to get away with this, pre-loading the card is against the t&c and could result in the account being frozen

To be fair, pre-loading the card is not against the T&C.

Since this has been often mentioned on the forum, I decided to take a look for myself.
Pre-loading the card is not against the T&C. What is against the T&C is to attempt to increase your credit limit by using another credit or charge card account to transfer funds that would leave a credit on your account.
In other words it is perfectly acceptable to transfer funds from your bank account.

    Clarity Credit Card T&C
16.9 You must not make payments or transfer funds from another credit or store card to your account that would leave a credit balance on your account. We may return any funds that exceed the balance owing on your account to the account from which the money has been sent.

    So now you know. ;)

Can someone tell me why it is that when you look on the 'travelmoneymax' site the lira comes up as being 3.213 with the clarity card. How do you get this rate? I don't get it? I have a clarity card, but have never used it. I want to buy lira :-( confused...

You go to Turkey and withdraw from an ATM.

If you get a Clarity card, probably best to get (some) euros from ATM at Heraklion or Chania airport, then top-up as required from resort ATMs. Main thing to watch is that some (maybe all now) Greek ATMs give you the choice of being billed in euros or pounds - you need to choose euros. There are a (very) few ATMs that charge for withdrawals, but bank-branded ones don't.

Thanks, applied last night and was accepted so should be here in time, think will put money on the card first and if it's not used will use over here! Just to work out how much cash to take now and where to get it - it's so much easier not going on holiday!
