I've just knocked my BB connection down from 2Mb to 1Mb as I can no longer afford £24.99 per month. After 3 calls between the sales team and customer service I was able to get 1Mb for £9.99 per month for the next 6 months.

The only other question is, should I ditch Sky and BT and go for the 3 for £30 offer, they were trying to get me to sign up for that as well today. Whilst it is cheaper, is it better in terms of quality?

    cheers

How come you only got BB for 6 months at that price you should get it for 12 months like everyone else?

I did try for 12 months. I don't think it's a case of what everyone else is getting, I think it's more the luck of the draw of who answers the phone in customer services.

Apparently it's because the offer of £9.99 for new customers "is only available for a limited time", so they couldn't offer me a reduction for any longer period of time. The way I see it at the moment, 6 months at £9.99 is better than not asking and sticking at £17.99. I can always try again in the New Year.

    cheers,

Just to say thanks, saved nearly £50 as NTL agreed to my broadband down to £9.99 for 6 months.
  • I'm doing something wrong...

I've been with NTL 2 years and am currently on the 2MB link. I've phoned twice in the last week enquiring about how to cancel my contract...I have no intention to, just want more for my money like everyone else. Each time has been met with a "Why?"...so I've mentioned other providers charging less for the same speeds. Falls on deaf ears though - no offers to upgrade/discount!

I only have broadband from NTL (£24.99 a month package), but have been with them for about 7/8 years now, do you reckon they'd give me a reduction if I phoned up?
    Yes, just say you're leaving!
  • thanks I have just phoned up and got 6 months 2mb broadband for £19.99 a month, saving me £30. I wonder if to get TV (but dont want a phone line as I use VoIP) and cancel sky :)

    Cheers

    Hi

I just got mine reduced for 12 months on 1mb from £17.99 per month to £9.99 but boy was he stuborn. He really didn't want to do it he looked up tiscali on the net and tried to tell me like thier new customers the price would go up after the time but I said 12 months is a long time and quite a saving. I asked for disconections number and he said thats ok I can do it for you now if you like. I said I wanted to arrange connection elsewhere first before actually disconecting there n then and then I'd ring back as I didn't want to have any problems being offline in between switching. He then reluctantly asked if I was saying if I had the same offer I'd stay with them and I said thats what I phoned to check for before going ahead elsewhere so he sorted it out quite easily after that :)
    Thanx

    Thanks for this!

I was on the £17.99 1mb package. I phoned 08000 522 000 and chose the chaning packages option. I said I was thinking about leaving and quoted tiscalli offering £15.99 for 2mb, bulldog doing 8mb for £17.50 and even ntl were offering new customers the £9.99 for 12 months - and asked if they could offer me anything... and straight away the lady said she'd be able to match the £9.99 for 12 months offer :) Couldn't wait to put down the phone to start laughing! It was so easy!

Nearly £100 saving for the year! Thanks a lot!
