easyjet hand luggage

Hi, sorry to bump the thread but it's not too old. I'm due to fly EasyJet on Sunday for my year abroad so want to take as much stuff as I can on this £30 flight. I have this bag:
http://www.freemans.com/Trolley-Weekend-Bag/productdisplay.stm?An=681&A=92K112_HOT&N=429+4294965221+681+699+706&Au=P_MasterItem&Nu=P_MasterItem&Ns=P_Colour|0||P_Size|0
which isn't massive but slightly exceeds the annoying 20cm limit. Think I'll get away with it? I really hope so- can't be doing with buying another!0 -
I flew from Bristol in July and the check in girl made me put the bag in the cage thing to check its size. It was slightly too long (see question below) so she said I would have to check in. I said I would bin the case as there was not much in it and carry the stuff in a carrier bag! Went away and sneaked it on board (fit in the Ryan Air cage annoyingly).
Question: can anyone confirm that the bag measure thing at the airport is exactly the same as the dimensions on the website as I took my tape measure with me when I bought the bag and it was 1cm under including wheels?0 -

Thats strange that it fits in ryanair cage as their dimesions are exactly the same, was she using the wrong cage?0 -
Just to say,we travelled back from Palma last week with EZ, and they were enforcing their hand luggage rules strictly. I commented on this to the gate staff, and they showed me a letter from EZ headquarters..they are experiencing too may pax turning up with either more than 1 item of hand luggage, or 1 item that's too big. Be warned-they were refusing to let people board, and ,making them pay to check it in. Now I've been using EZ to PMI for 11 years and I've never seen them enforce the rules before! If you pay in advance to chk bag in its only about £8...could be worth it....Debt-free...and staying that way...0

The Easyjet sizer measures the width and the length, ie, the 55x20 size (you put it in sideways), and the Ryanair sizer measures the width and the depth, ie, the 40x20 size (you put it in upright).
I have measured several now, and the smallest was at Bristol (EJ one). The inside measurements there were 548mm x 220mm. The actual tubing was 230mm, but they have put some size adjusting screws on the inside and made it 220mm. You might get away with 225-230 providing its not a brick you are taking,ie, your case is a bit squidgy. In Krakow it was the full 230mm.
The third dimension on each I assume to be to the top of the tubing, I'm not sure. I didn't get that far, mine wouldn't even start to go in. The wheels were just catching, and for that it cost me an extra £16.
I could have probably forced it in, but if I did, I think I might have been taking the sizer on the plane with me.0 -
But what is their 'actual' hand baggage size allowance - if you look at their site (sorry would not let me post it as a link) it says 56x45x25cm but I also found another place on their web site (and someone else in this thread) stated 55x40x20cm.
The bag I want to use is 51x36x23 cm - so according to the second one 3cm too deep??0 -
The size was changed late last year and is now 56x45x25cm. That's also the size of the cages Easyjet uses to measure the hand luggage.0

Ok that's good news - thank you for clarifying - wish they would remove / update the old information from their web site...0
