Alison_B wrote:Even if we are passing a Costco at lunchtime and we don't want anything from the store, we always stop off for lunch there. Pizza or Baked Potato and very reasonably priced. Think we have more or less saved the cost of our membership on lunches alone.:D
In the Reading store you can walk straight in through the exit (past the optician and membership desk) to the "cafeteria" without showing a membership card, nor do you need a card to buy your food.
The range of food available is very small and the term "cafeteria" is a bit grand, but the portions are huge and prices very low. A Jacket potato filled with Tuna and a refillable fizzy drink (help yourself to refills and straws) comes to a total of £1-85, not quite big enough to feed a family of four, but not far off.0 -
i only go to cost-co for the tyres, photos and when there is a birthday coming up - never seen a 'good' bargain there
even with the passport

I love Costco, even though I spend loads there like the other poster.
I get their Mince, real scotch beef, and cook a huge batch up. Once you've tasted theres you won't be happy with supermarket stuff.
I also get the small cartons of juice and bottles of water, much cheaper and always on hand for lunch boxes and days out with the kids.
The toys are good value and there's a lot of them in now for Christmas and the decorations are superb. I bought my boys a permanent advent calender which I fill with celebrations etc about five years ago and it still looks brill, its velvet with embroidered pictures, they still have some like it. Lovely.

That's a shame as my experience has shown many amazing deals. Quite often their eletrical prices are comparable to the cheaper online stores but then the guarantee is superb.
The meat is superb and knocks the socks off the quality in high-street chains. The only other place comparable is our local 'proper' butchers where meat is far more expensive that Costcos.
My fave bargain is the Jelly belly beans bucket. This is £11 is our store and contains about 2kg of JBBs. This is less than a third of the price for the same product online. Just thinking about it actually it's a good place to get trick or treat goodies.... and that's all I have to say about that.0 -
We bought a Sonny TV about 3 years ago. Recently it stop working. Took it back to Costco without the slip and they gave a full refund.
You can't beat that. No need for expensive insurance, etc....

costco is about quality as well as sometimes picking up a bargain. The food quality is unsurpassed by supermarkets especially the meats and fish. The stores are huge and even if they are busy its still easy to shop. As with any warehouse store its about buying in bulk. We like their cooked chickens and one lasts the two of us two days £2.99 each. Their carrot cake is exceptional and the apple pie exquisite and i can verify that, as we bought an apple pie for my moms old folks home and some declared it the best they had ever eaten, though i did not confess that i had not cooked it :-(
Just off now to pick up my passport and get those rozor blades, thx for the postThe best work is the cheapest as the quality remains long after the price is forgotten0 -

In my original post I forgot to mention the meat.
The past couple of posts have been absolutely correct the mince is outstanding. I also find the chicken breasts and steak of a good quality and value for money as well.
Regarding bluemeanie - Do you walk around with your eyes shut????
Another item I forgot to metion was Pampers nappies -
They sell a box of Active fit nappies (size 5 or any other size) with 93 nappies for £14.99.
Now I know Asda and the likes only sell them in boxes of 68 for roughly £13 odd so this makes quite a good saving too, especially if you go through as many as my son does!!!;):)
